What I use most and why are:
Agenudus
for being able to list all dates and to do's I have assigned to the different contacts, and for being able to just make a follow up reminder (date, call or to do) after a date.
Audible
listening to my favorite e-books, or listening books
CallRec
listen to calls after having completed then, being able to take directions to a place or directions on how to use something (mostly in my job, where I handle purchases for chemicals), or just for fun...being able to listen to funny conversations.
Pocket Tunes
Listen to my favorite music, specially during lunch breaks or when talking a walk.

These are just some of the MU, other I use different dictionaires and encyclopaedias (13 in total) for refernce help or look up of words.

KFU EazyE for one of the best suggestions to post.  Sometimes, I feel that all new posts should automatically receive a "Have you Googled your question" response.  Wink

KFU nimra for your avatar.  Love it!

My apps of preference (check the downloads section or Google [tip:  add treo to your search term of help limit results], hyperlinking everything is just too time consuming):

Neat Freaks Pack:  Northglide's Cleanup and Uninstall, which keeps my Treo neat and tidy when I uninstall apps no longer needed/wanted.  A must have.

zLauncher:  Keeps my Treo and apps organized and purty lookin'.  Powerful little program.

Warden:  security - lock the Treo, remotely lock the Treo, remotely wipe the Treo, etc.

Agendus:  contacts, calendar memos, travel planning, keeping my life organized

Agendus Mail SSL:  easy setup (esp. for Gmail), multiple accounts, multiple folders, syncs with Outlook, stable on Treo, fast, can save messages to card.

BuzzOff:  block callers with no caller ID or blocked caller ID (very handy a couple of months ago when Sprint marketing kept repeatedly calling their customers to sell crap), block certain numbers, block at certain times of day, only allow certain contacts to call

Resco Backup:  backs up to my SD card every night

Backup Buddy:  backs up the Treo and SD card to my PC every night

Splash Wallet (includes, Shopper, Photos, ID, and something else I deleted):  shopping lists (very handy), photo management, IDs for banking, logons, etc. (can be run from the card, so the data is not on the Treo)

Butler:  Key Launcher - you can launch all your favorites from any app using the shortcut you assigned in the favorites screen; LED control (it does a whole lot more, but I stumbled across it late in the game).

Scrabble:  To help me forget about the loudmouths talking on their cellphones on the bus.  Hooray!

Sometimes you don't know what you want because you don't know what's out there ... I think this is a great idea, newbie or not.

For my 700w, I like:
* Spb pocket plus: Organizes my programs into tidy little tabs on my Today screen; also includes programs such as close on X (d'uh), soft reset with one touch and more.
* Weatherpanel: with the Malatesta skin, it's an easy view of the weather at home and on the OBX (where I wish I was). Also has the five-key navigation downloaded so I can use the pad to go to a specific section of the program.
* Earthcomber and Windows Live Search - haven't decided which one I want to keep yet. I like Earthcomber because it'll show icons for drugstores, ATMs, etc. but I know I haven't played around with Windows Live Search enough.
** edited: I deleted Earthcomber and just love Windows Live Search. Being able to type in the name of a store and cycle through to find the one closest to me, then be able to call it directly from that screen is great.
* Keep Track: Software for maintaining my checkbook on my Treo.
* IM+ : I use Yahoo Messenger and it's not the perfect program, but it'll do. (It doesn't show the status of users, which is frustrating)
* Bejeweled: Gotta have something to waste time.
* Memmaid: For keeping my memory optimized, I guess. I haven't seen a huge difference.
* Spb backup: I back it up to my card at least once a week and then copy my card over to my PC, just in case.

A few minor things that make my Today screen easier to cope with:
* Hidelogo: No more "verizon" logo at the top - woo hoo!
* Scary Bear Spacer: Adds in a small space between my Spb pocket plus and the speed dial options. A little more breathing room was needed.

Jen

I second Directory Assistant and GoogleMaps!  Love them!  Most of my favorite apps were already mentioned, so I won't repeat, but here are some others that I can't live without...

Avvenu - A free service with optional premium features that enables you to remotely access your home or office computer directly from your Treo.  I use it all the time and the best part is, it's free!

xWeather - This one isn't free but I love it, too.

ChemTable 2.25 - A Periodic Table of Elements that I thought was really cool... and it's also free.

DopeWars - I'm addicted! (free)

1st Aid 1.4 - Hey... would YOU know what to do if you were bitten by a snake?  Grab your Treo, of course!  Hehehe!  (free)

The forum wouldn't let me include the links because of my "newbie" status, but if anyone needs the links, just message me.

Pocket PC Apps - Most are pay for apps
Microsoft Voice Command - Dial contacts, start applications, no training.
Lakerridge Software Wisbar Advance - Skin the start menu bar along the top and put useful information up there.  Plus, the close button actually closes the apps.
Photocontacts Pro - Photo contacts plus ringtone management.
MTUX Remote - display and control your Pocket PC on your computer through the USB activesync connection
Atomware Dopewars - Free game based on palm classic.
BuildXPDA Boxworld - Free push the box around game
GarishKernels Egress - Awesome RSS reader, support for media as well.
SBSH Pocket Breeze, Contact Breeze, Pocket Weather.  All intergrated for your today screen.
Pocketmax Phone Alarm - Easy to see alerts for messages, phone calls, and voicemail.  Also has "profiles" such as home, work, flight, car, meeting, etc where you can set up different radios to be on and off, as well as start programs, change ringers.  Very complex functionality for profiles.
gnu emu48ce - Emulate a hp 48 graphing calculator
Resco Explorer - Explorer + ftp + registry editor.  Flat out the best explorer on Pocket PC
Mobipocket ereader - Free reader, good for project gutenburg.
TCPMP - Plays divx movies (among others)

For Palm OS
Pocket Tunes 4 EX - I can use this with my Yahoo subscription service.  For $10/month (less than a cost of a CD) I can download whatever I like to my palm from Yahoo unlimited.
Kinoma Player - Streaming audio, I can connect up to mobile XM radio and listen, watch youtube, etc
Zlauncher - Awesome launcher.  Easy to organize programs.  Quick Launch button to get to programs from anywhere
Google Maps - Traffic and Satellite view.
Power48 - A HP 48 GX emulator so I can have my scientific graphing calculator always with me
Resco Explorer - Still does a great job except great explorer for palm.
Plucker - Free ereader, good for project gutenburg.
TCPMP - Plays divx movies (among others)
Softick Audio Gateway - A2DP profile so you can use bluetooth headphones - Using it with the Motorola HT820.
Today - There is a free version still available from freewarepalm.  Do a search in google "today site:freewarepalm.com" without the quotes
Dopewars - Free game, same as above.

Some apps that people don't tend to mention often:

Worldmate Pro - World weather, time, conversions of everything, flight plan, etc. for traveling

BTAmp - You might need to find a cracked version as I haven't been able to find a place to buy it anymore, but it allows you to control winamp on your computer over Bluetooth.  Very handy for people like me who have their computer in a different room and connected to their home theater. Change songs, see what's playing, turn off your computer, select from your playlist, etc.

SkinUI - make your boring palmos them/widget set more sexy.  Skins buttons, does transitions and adds some functionality.

Sudoku - puzzle game that'll keep you busy for hours.  There are both free and pay versions available

Patience - great set of solitaire card games for free

LightNZip - open zip files from the internet on your treo as well as be able to browse blazer's download folder.  This is the only app I've seen that allows you to delete files from blazer's download folder

Easy Calc - a great free calculator that does sophisticated stuff like graphing and conversions.  Great free replacement for the built in calc (and good if your professor allows you to use cell phone calculators for tests  laugh)

Mundu IM - IM program that is very feature rich.  If it worked for my 755p, I'd get it

VFSFTP+ - connect to and transfer files through from your treo.

IJWT pipe up with gratis for this thread. Even though the product descriptions are there when purchasing a product in the store the buyer doesn't have a clue as to how really useful a product is until the actual users speak up. I don't want to waste my time & money on a product unless I know it does what it says it does simply and quickly... and, of course, at a good price.

I rarely buy a product unless it is useful, here's just a few I love:

Agendus Pro - an elegent solution to the old palm contacts/memos/datebook/etc., that's never been updated. Agendus is definitely worth the cost.  I'd be lost without it.

mOCean - another elegant solution for media. Tries to duplicate the iPod look. But, even so, I'm thinking of paying to upgrade to Pocket Tunes Deluxe.

MiniTunes - You can make your own ringtones right on your Treo with this elegant little product. Can also use to beam music to others.

FileZ - a must have program. It is great for all sorts of file management things and also can unlock the automatically locked ringtones made with other programs (like DJTone Express)

Graffitti Anywhere - makes your Treo 755 just like your oldest Palm that you could write on.

Key Caps - will cap any letter if you hold the letter key down 1 second longer than usual

Video Jigsaw - I've downloaded tons of games, free, of course ! from mytreo.net (thank you mytreo !), and I'm currently addicted to Bejeweled, but this program will take any photo and make it a jigsaw puzzle of different sizes (your choice) and it's fun and quick to do while waiting to see your dentist.
