Avantgo (best offline browser) IHT newspaper.
Merck handbook for the private practitioner (registered in US).
Kingkanji for learning Japanese (true japanese writing).

Pilotgo
Plucker (Also offline webbrowser)
Googlemaps (offcourse)
Bigclock
Lifebalance (task/agenda programm in a very dynamic way) I had only demo for 30 days but it is very good.
Have many palm applications since I owned a pilot 5000 from 1997 and used one ever since.

listing the name with description is an excellent idea. No not links we can search in every thread if we wanted links. Favorites is great b/c yea were all diff which is EXACTLY why a short description is colosaly helpful.

ok I only have a few

callnotesII - love this. no longer avail to get code b/c maker is out of bus but shareware is great and you can just reload it when it expires.  it groups your calls by caller or by date and it also allows for you to take notes on the call. att now stole the callnotes name but the original is on treo sites. (not the toysoft version but the handwave version) search handwave and callnotes

caldate - simple calendar calculator counts days from one date to the next or vice versa - in other words enter in 324 days and it gives you the date which that ends.

realplayer -  blows doors on the other mp3 stock player - avail for free - plays randomly and you can view all files

pdanet - allows you to surf off of your net connection on your phone on your computer - good stuff and pretty darn quick too. www.junefabrics.com

iphony - gives your interface look of iphone - just a toy but the links to your apps work on it.

pdareach - displays your treo on the screen same maker as above

Huh?

Palm apps are pretty much Palm apps. If it works on the 755, it works on the 700, the 680, and the Centro. Nice thing about Palm.

except google maps. only the centro can utilize the 0 function of where I am.

The special non-included applications installed on my Palm Centro (Verizon) are ...

VERSAMAIL Personal by Palm (FREE thru MyCentro)
Really is there any other decent software for checking your e-mail?  I think not.  Best way to check POP/IMAP e-mail accounts using my data package.  And it is Palm so it runs flawlessly.

PALM FILES by Palm (FREE thru MyCentro)
Easy way to edit/move/delete files off your SD card ... basically like Resco Explorer but only works for SD card, again Palm software and free so nice.  If you need a more powerful software program, RE is probably better.

FACEBOOK by Palm (FREE thru MyCentro)
When you really are bored, it can be fun to play on Facebook of course.  Not an amazing app but it does the job of getting some fun time in -- good only if you have a nice data package as looking at pix/etc can get data intense.

FILEZ by nosleep software (LINK)
This tool works like the Files program above except from here you can also choose what files backup with HotSync, etc.  Very useful tool to trouble shoot or adjust settings on a very advanced level.  Not a "necessary" tool for everyone, but for many it is the only way to fix certain errors.

BUTLER by Hobbyist Software (LINK)
By far the MOST important and BEST piece of software you can get for your Centro, in my personal opinon.  For me it is necessary because I wanted an alarm for work that only goes of M-F.  I wanted reminder beeps/LEDs for when I miss call or text message.  There are so many other features, too!  Worth every penny!

RESET DOCTOR by Hobbyist Software (LINK)
Just a useful tool to be able to review why/when things crash, fix cache issues, etc.  Not really needed now that I ditched the Garmin XT software which sucked. Smiley

AUDIO GATEWAY by Softick (LINK)
If you want to use your Bluetooth Stereo headset (A2DP) to broadcast music or what have you from the Centro, this is a really great application.  I've actually got this feature thru my Pioneed headunit in my car, so I can stream audio from my phone to my vehicle using this software.  Works REALLY nicely and Softick has really good customer support.

CARD EXPORTER by Softick (LINK)
How annoying is it that every time you want to load files on/off your microSD card you have to remove the back cover?  This makes life so much easier -- this software basically makes your computer recognize your Centro as if it were a thumb drive with the SD card being the drive.  You do have to run the application to make it happen, it isn't automatic -- but it works nicely.  However, I do notice the speed isn't as fast as using my SD card slot thumb drive reader, but for most files this is adequate and nice!  (great way to offload pictures taken with the phone camera)

WEATHER v1.0 by Deluxeware (LINK)
You can search all you want, this is definitely the BEST and most GORGEOUS looking piece of Palm software out there.  Not only can you customize multiple cities to scan and times of the day to check for updated weather, you can see out as far as 14-days.  I love this app... I use Butler to have it launch this app right after my morning alarm so that I click off the alarm and voila, I can see the wather.  I also set the Weather app to update just before my alarm, so its current.  Very cool!

KINOMA PLAYER 4 EX by Kinoma (LINK)
Last but not least... I have an unlimited data plan and enjoy using my web service when out on the town.  One of the things that annoyed me about the browser and plug-in the phone came with was the iniability to play YouTube nicely, and also my desire to play movies I had converted down to my phone.  This software is VERY powerful and while I still prefer pTunes for music playing, Kinoma is by far the BEST way to stream video on the Centro.  YouTube + Kinoma = awesome!

Hope this helps someone down the road...

Not a suggestion but a request -

for those of us on tmobile w unlocked phones w suffer w size anxiety. What I mean by that is tmobile will resize all pix sent to nonsupported phones to 120x160.  : ( However I read that iphone users use a program called swirler which makes their phones appear as supported phones so they dont get teenyweeny pix. Anyone know of a similar ap for palm treo?

my favs:

Directory assistance:  phonebook for the palm, which allows for maps and instant dialing from the lookup.  free.

sharklinks:  favorite web pages as app style links.  free.

attention grab:  alerts you via led (green or red) when you have a missed call.  great for the office.  free.

treo launcher:  great looking launcher, and I was able to make an fsu wallpaper.  very stable, looks great.  costs money, but not much.

agendus pro:  great calender app.  seamlessly synchs with my office outlook for meetings and whatnot.  costs money, but a big upgrade over the standard calender.

Most if not all programs listed here are available in the downloads section of MTDN.  If not you can always google the titles.  Agendus is by far the most expensive Palm application I've seen and I found the benefits to not be worth the cost, but that's a personal decision.  To use DickieD's motto "try before you buy" cause in most cases there are less costly or free alternatives.

RecipeWorks  Which is not hosted here.  It is a great desktop and pda  cookbook and recipe book.  I looked and tried about 4, but this is the best one for me.

http://www.softwaredr.com/RW/index.html

There are other items I use, like Edu Track, and gradebook and other more techie and multimedia programs, but most of those are already mentioned here.

filez and zlink are very useful in the utilities department!

Thought you might like it! LOL  There is a free one called mcRecipe, but it really is not very useful.

another good program if you have a small group or are teaching with children that have tungsten t pdas- is a program called blueboard- it was put out on the tungsten c I think.  You can draw on your board and it appears on theirs!  great for car rides and tic tack toe too!  LOL

I should check around to see if other people have innovative uses of the regular apps.-  I attach notes in the calendar with recipes or lesson plans that repeat- so I can have a repeating menu every three to four weeks with little or no effort!

Kids also can use the contacts on a list for vocabulary - the last name is the word, the first name is the part of speech and so on.  (This is for those kids who are not using the pda or contact list)

LOL  I get some goofy ideas at times!

Also I like the t5 file browser as it associates files with programs- so searching through the SD card and launching the program from a file is excellent!  (this works with the 700p and up)

Yup I'm a total third party software nerd.

I keep remembering some of my other programs-  Like checklist- absolutely enjoy that one along with the desktop version its great or just the free palm prc coupled with a keyboard!

I've also used thoughtmanager- paid for the full version.  It is fairly good outline program and also comes with desktop version if purchased that way.

Checklist is great for those to do projects that you don't necessarily wish to have linked to a particular date.  Also create sub categories -  such as CDs and then different genres- collections you are purchasing - keep track of items you have or don't have-  many  many uses.  Need to pack up and move- and you don't want to forget items - this is perfect for that.  Book collections- stamp collections, for sale lists- keep track of your craigslist listings?

Hmm I'm beginning to sound like an infomercial   ACK RUN RUN  LOL  see above software nerd.

I need to amend the comment about Checklist

Checklist The one that is put out by paper trail software not the one listed as checklist pro.  The difference?  I don't know except the paper trail registration costs 9usd less.  You can also add pictures to your checklists!
