Finally got a mytreo.net account  Smiley

I'd like to introduce Lnchr, a launcher optimized for the Treo qwerty keyboard. It supports incremental name search and start applications directory with the OP+ 1-9 keys.

Thanks for your attention

A few screen shots and the home page is: http://palmgadget.com/lnchr.html

I'd like to use this thread for Lnchr user feedback and feature discussions (as I don't have a forum on my own web), if it is allowed here.

Thanks

Welcome to mtdn! Always nice to have another Palm developer with us. I'm sure Lnchr will be available in our downloads section in no time. Smiley

Lnchr displays programs which the built-in launcher will show.

I am not sure what "handle multiple creator id" means. An example?

Thanks

A feature that only a couple of the third party launchers have - the ability to launch unrelated files from the launch folder. It is one of the many things that sets ZLauncher apart from the rest of the pack. Ben

Hi horaceho! I love the interface of launcher.  Wink If I buy Lnchr, will you send me a full version or the one downloadable in palmgadget can do the job then you'll just send to me the registration key?  Smiley

Cool!

Finally good old abandoned Palm OS launcher gets a modern look without trying to break the features of one another.

The fact I love traditional Palm launcher for it's simplicity. All other launchers trying to be everything to everyone keep them complicated but sometimes lack the basic need of a todays Treo user.

Say for example launcher X has all the bells and whistles but lack the ability to add a simple BG image that any kid or geek would love without their egos.

So this looks promising. If you use the same look Palm uses for the launcher and add few things that you are doing now, Lnchr will be the best thing for Treos for years.

Things I would like to see:

1. Ability to show card apps (PALM/LAUNCHER folder) and use them.
2. Better Full Screen use of the 123 mode
Can have few month calender linked todos
A few favorites at the bottom
Still better a strip of Quick Picture dials
3. Ability delete files with their associates

Don't you think? Anyone second this?

Could you please quote me an example?

Is it something like, for example:

- there are an ebook reader installed
- there are some (say, 5) ebooks installed
- so there will be 6 icons, 1 is the read, the other 5 are the ebook
- click on the ebook will launch the read with the ebook as parameter

1 apps on card is available on beta 6, please test it: http://palmgadget.com/lnchr.html

2 [123] mode is far from satisfactory. I will update the calendar to include a month view. and there are some other requests all on my todo list. I plan to keep the empty space to show optional information. the basic idea behind: simplicity is the baseline and there will be options to see more ...

3 currently, delete, categorize, refresh of files are done via the old launcher, basically I want to get Lnchr out fast (before the Treo 680 release ;-) I will catch up.

Does this app runwell with skin ui or palmrevolt?

Also, can you cahange the icons on it kind of like zlauncher so your icon can have more of a modern look?

Cuz I'm looking for a launcher app right now. I do like the simplicty of the palm os launcher but I do have to admit if the looks can be upgraded a little then that is the buy for me. Also having some quick launch buttons and todo list and all tha on one screen is a must.

I've been using PalmRevolt for a while and it works well.

Icon replacement is not done yet, but is on the todo list.

There are MRU (most recent used) icons in [123] mode though. (see diagram, the animated icons)

1. I can't find any reference to a "beta 6" and the one I just downloaded does NOT show the card at all. This is a problem, because more then 50% of my apps are on the card. I do that bacause there isn't enough room in RAM to keep all the apps I use. Shocked
2. I can't get any other then the default background to show up. I tried selecting a new one from /dcim with no luck. Sad
3. $13 for a half way done launcher with fewer functions then the default launcher, still in beta as far as I can tell, and with most of the features either not working or not implemented yet, is $12 TOO MUCH!!! Shocked Sad
4. not being able to see or launch any apps from the card... You should be paying me!!! Roll Eyes

It looks like you're on the right track, but there is still a LOT of work to do before this is marketable. Snow

I don't think I'll be switching from ZL any time soon.

MC  Santa

EDIT: I was able to get a different wallpaper by swithing to the card. I was trying to load a wallpaper from the treo's internal media. This should be an available feature!!! so that's Half a hurdle.

Now I have a feature request:

1. The ability to add an icon to any catagory and have that icon point to an app. I LOVE the way in ZLauncher, that It can see app on the card [in /palm/launcher] and the icons for those apps can be moved or copied to any catagory "tab" thereby allowing me to see "like" apps on the card and in RAM in the came cat. and launch them from there.

2. HEY!!! WHERE'S THE LIST VIEW???!!!???

EDIT AGAIN:
It seems I can see the apps in /palm/launcher... but they list only in "unfiled" or "all."
Is there any way to recatagorize them? There isn't AFIK in the "system launcher" But most other third party launchers can!

1. the latest version 1.0.1 and version history are available of homepage: http://palmgadget.com/lnchr.html

2. are the following files (2, 3) installed also?

Installation

a Lnchr.prc - the main program
b [optional] pnoJpegLib.prc - support jpeg wallpaper
c [optional] Lnchr.001.pdb - sample wallpaper
d [optional] other .jpeg wallpapers in SD Card's /DCIM folder

You may also try sample wallpaper (downloand and store in /DCIM/ on card) from homepage to confirm it the wallpaper option works, e.g.:

4. Apps on card will be shown in [All] and [Unfiled] category. The coming version (mostly likely to be released on coming Sunday) will support subfolder-to-category mapping. i.e. apps on card's /Palm/Launcher/ can be stored in /Palm/Launcher/Games, /Palm/Launcher/Main ... etc.

Does Lnchr permit always opening a specified category when the applications key is first pressed, if the device was off? Subsequent presses change category?
