The only feature I'd like to see now would be the use MP3s (throught pTunes) rather than midis for alarms

TreoAlarm is an alarm clock with weather forecast for Treo 600. It is now in public beta and can be downloaded from http://www.treoalarm.comThe program is small (single .PRC file ~130k) and optimized for slow internet connections (TreoAlarm needs just 1-2k per forecast download). Please try it and let developers know what features you like and don't like. Any comments, suggestions, feature requests are welcome! Welcome roustk! http://mytreo.net/news/archives/000231.phpCheers

Hi, great app! I just downloaded .93a.
Moments before the alarm sounds, my internet connection connects but doesn't download anything. In my usage log, it shows 0 bytes.
The manual 'Update Weather' button works though.

batcave, thanks for testing TreoAlarm. A few questions... does it always happen or just from time to time? What are the software/hardware versions (shown in Phone Info screen)?

seems most are having good luck with this app. I can manually download the weather update, but nothing I do will result in the alarm feature working and auto updating. I do have 'weather' checked in the set alarm screen. I have been working with this for about 3 days now, and never had the alarm feature work. Any thoughts? I am of course, using a treo 600

I am of course, using a treo 600 Several factors might affect auto updating: - if wireless connection turned off -- then update won't work (unfortunately, alarm won't ring as well) - TreoAlarm won't download weather automatically if the last update happened less than 30 min ago. Other than that, I can't reproduce this on my Treo. If you send me the hardware/software information (shown in Options|Phone Info screen of the Phone app) I'll try to test it on simulator.

Not sure what has changed, but it finally decided to launch and alarm. Normal: take it to the mechanic, and works perfect! Anyway, will see how it goes for the next few days and let you know. Did a couple of soft resets earlier, so that may have done it, but don't know why. Thanks for responding, RJuhl

I am glad it is working for you now. I have a new version 0.93b available. It fixes a few problems with alarm playback and also adds: 1) forecast history -- after you download weather for more than one city the dropdown list will appear if you click on the forecast header or press "Select" button. 2) forecast expiration -- header will be grayed out if the forecast was downloaded over 4 hours ago.

roustk,
I like it.
Several suggestions: I may have commented on this on other forum here in myTreo. Didn't know how to send feedback to the developer. Soory I am a newbie here.
1) See if you can support multiple locations. This would be a plus for traveling (departure, arrival and home). I am thinking of a multiple-choice-pulldown field (in TCL/TK is optionButton) at the top. This way we could use the up arrow key on the 5-Nav button to go to it (left-right and down are already taken.)
2) Multiple Alarms and separate from weather update. See 3 below.
3) Scheduled way to update the weather. At this point I was able to work around it by using Tone=Alarm and Auto Snooze = 1 time. The problem is that it "disables" the use of the alarm (can't set an alarm for something else). In the Alarm time preferences I have "Snooze for 5 minutes" so it is doing the update every five minutes. Not really what I wanted either.
4) Would be great to have info on the last time the weather was updated.
5) On the "Alarm Sound Preferences", the interlude and durations fields if you delete the numbers using backspace and try to type a number it beeps and does not let you do it. You then have to highlight the field (stylus) and enter the number.
6) On the "Alarm Sound Preferences", the interlude and durations fields. I believe I put zero for the interlude or duration. It took it but when the alarm went off it displayed a message saying (invalid number in field) or something like that.
7) It would be nice to print the temperature range under the icon. I will make it easier to read than looking through the text at the bottom. Not sure if you can parse this.
I am using: TreoAlarm 0.93b Treo 600 -1.2-SPR Hardware C
Hope this helps.
Just to reiterate.. I really like it.
