I just bought a Jabra FreeSpeak BT250 and I am not satisfied so far. I have gotten a lot of static from just a few feet away and sometimes it has trouble picking up my phone from a very short distance. CNet rated it as the best bluetooth headset, but I'm beginning to think there has to be something better for my Treo 650.
I'm thinking about returning it for something else. Is there something better out there?
Any advice/help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks, RHW

Maybe I am missing something, but I just got the Scala 500 and either my ears are going, or the headset is just not loud enough. What headset seems the loudest? Lorne Scala 500 is a great headset. Have two of them for wifey and I

I to have static issues with my Jabra 250 being right in front of me. I am going to take it back and get something else. I did not have these problems with my Moto HS850 but the volume was to low on that one. I'm thinking about the Scala or the jabra 800.

We have several BT phones, and for them own the Jabra BT200 and the Logitech (clawlike one - forgot the model#) so I've done some experimenting. I bought the Blueglove by Fellowes from Sprint (promptly returned it!), and at the CES I tried Bluetrek and a few others. At one point in Vegas, someone let me try the Scala 500 and I was impressed - finally got around to ordering it.
I've got some experience with it now, and feel that it's the best by far from a TREO650 compatibility viewpoint. It is the ONLY one that once paired will "wake up" the Treo after both have been completely OFF (Treo - soft reset). It's the ONLY one that stays paired and never again asks for the 0000. It's the ONLY one that instantly connects when a call is being made or received. It and the Logitech are the only two with enough volume for these old hairy ears. In fact, even with BTMute disabled it's ok with most calls.
It's also very light - certainly as light as any of them at the CES. The shape and earhook make it easy to "fit". It doesn't go IN the ear, but rests ON the ear - good for those wearing a hearing aid (like me). And it's packaged with convenient accessories like an eyeglass clip, elastic neckloop. Overall, a very nice product - perhaps the best of them for the 650.
Price is stunning in more ways than one. It's nearly $100 from some sources, but I paid $35 at MacMall, including shipping -- found it on Froogle.

FWIW, the Palm-branded Jabra BT250 that came with my T650 works great. Note that there is apparently a difference between this one and the generic BT250 from jabra, so beware.

I dont think there is a difference. I think there one in the same. The 250 just does not work very well with the 650 or is it that the 650 bluetooth does not work very well with the 250. All I know is that I have replaced both my 650 and the 250 and it does the same thing. I have ordered a Scala from ecost based on user reviews here, we will see how it works out.

I could be worng, but I did read somewhere that there is a subtle firmware difference between the stock BT250 and the Palm one. In any event, the BT250 works for me.

I had the BT250 from Palm and it had the same problems as the one I got from Cingular. So that would lead me to believe that there is no difference but I could be wrong.

There IS a difference, the one from P1, when a call comes in picks up automaticly. The one from Jabra direct does not. (the one from Cingular, is probabely the one from P1) Oh, BTW I highly recomend the Scala 500 (i would write why, but HenryE did it for me... )

Please see this Pa1mOne page for details (functionality as noted by mahootzki as noted above): http://www.palmone.com/us/support/bluetooth/treo650_bluetooth_compatibility.htmlThe PalmOne branded BT250 (which is what shipped with my PalmOne T600 > Cingular T650 upgrade order) has added features and functionality not supported by the 'stock' BT250.

Regardless of the difference they both do not work well with my 650. I am using the palm one with the added functions.
