using Chatter and an IM program

So anybody that runs Chatter and an IM app in the background knows the difficulty of getting the two to play nice, avoid the "using too many sockets" errors, and getting resets.

So, using Verichat and Chatter, I have found that Verichat's background data communication setting can be safely enabled when Chatter has the following settings:

1) Efficient Sync

2) 0 mailboxes set to real time push

3) all mailboxes set to Qsync at prime number intervals, none repeating

4) only Qsync while asleep

and I am trouble free for about a week now, even with Verichat running and having  17 IMAP folders set to qsync, 2 POP accounts, and an OWA account

Wow, and I have experienced none of those problems. Though what you are doing does make sense.

just a technical question-when you say you have 17 IMAP folders set to sync, you mean 17 folders from one root IMAP account, right? I ws under the impression you couldn't access subfolders with Chatteremail, just move items to them. I haven't used Chatter in a while (my company has switched to GoodLink). And how does Chatter handle OWA? I was thinking about voluntarilly opting out of Good ( my Treo is mine, not my company's - they just administer it) because it such a memory hog.

Yea, you gotta check out Chatter again if its been awhile. I have the root folder and many subfolders. It handles OWA just like a regular IMAP account as far as the user experience goes...I can't speak to the tehnical end of the interface.

I have one folder (the inbox) that is always on line and 20 or so off line and those are sync'd as necessary (when moved) and when I need to look at an email in one of those folders, I then set the number of days to sync back to and then do a quick sync - it works very, very well. Ben

I appreciate your post.  However, I have to say, PUSH email is the reason I purchased Chatter, and I don't like that I have to turn this feature off in order to get Verichat and Chatter to play nice.

I read somewhere there was a file to be downloaded that would make it run in the background. Anyway, remembering the days of Chatter, I was hoping it would run in the background; I did not look at the OS version. Ben

I know this thread's been here a while but my search pointed me to this direction.

I basically am having trouble with Chattermail and Mundu IM as described in this thread.  It seems that everytime i open chattermail, my Mundu IM cannot log me in to my Yahoo messenger account.

Anyone having this problem ?

I have been trying Chattermail out, and this seems to be the foremost problem i have with it.  I use my Mundu al lot to communicate with people overseas.

Hope someone could shed light on this.

Yes i am running the latest version of Chattermail.

Only thing I can advise is to shut down Chatter while you're im'ing since they apparently compete for the same socket.
