In an effort to extend my battery life to it's maximum I'm looking for some apps. that can underclock the Treo 650's processor.  I also need decent overclocking for my SNES emulator.  I've done some searching and it seems PXA Clocker is popular.  Has anyone tried both PXA Clocker and warpSpeed?  Which one is more stable with the Treo 650 and actually does what it's supposed to?  Basically, which one do you like and why.

Thanks for any input on this.

I downloaded pxa clocker about a week ago and I like it a lot. I had a very noticeable increase in speed in pretty much everything. Switching between apps was faster, apps that I run off my card loaded much faster, when viewing pics in full screen mode switching between pics was instant....no "please wait" screen. I benchmarked TCPMP with its built in benchmark tool and the orinal benchmark speed was 600 something percent and after pxa clocker it was over one thousand percent. I like it because you can set each app individually to slow it down or speed it up. Also it recognizes shortcuts to apps on your card and even those apps can be sped up. There are forums I read with a lot more info. You need to be careful at what speed you set it. I had my treo 650 running at 507 Mhz (i didn't try faster) and everything was fine except when I listened to music my treo locked up. I took the batt out for 10 seconds and it was fine, so now I run at 468 Mhz and everything is great. Its mostly trial and error because every processor is different. I also benchmarked my treo with a general banchmark tool and there was an increase in speed, especially graphics speed. I really like it, I wish I would have known about it sooner.

Another thing, battery life did not seem to be affected in any way (some people said battery life will drop because processor will reqire more power) although I did underclock some apps. Hope this helps. If you search for  pxa clocker forums I'm sure you'll find more.

it seems that while running PXA Clocker any time my treo 680 'goes to sleep' it won't wake up again... i have to pull the battery out. :-(

while it is active it rocks!

Teal OS is soooo much smoother.

any ideas, or ways around the not-waking-up problem?

Thanks
