Verichat & Chatter Problems with Cingular Updater 1.17

Since installing the new Cingular updater 1.17, even after a hard reset and wiping everything clean, I'm resets when I receive a message from Verichat in the background and I try to access it.  The treo will reset if I click on ignore or chat or just type a message and then enter it.  PDA Apps is saying that since the new updater that Verichat isn't working well with chatter.  They suggested that I turn off chatter while using Verichat.  Needless to say, I've tried this today and I have had no resets.  Yet, this defeats the purpose of me having Chatter.  I NEVER had this problem with the previous updater.  Is this issue being worked on?  Has anyone else using Verichat and Chatter with the new Cingular updater had reset issues?

Verichat and Chatter coexist with the 1.51 FW only. (I still have 1.31 ROW for SW)

I installed the update 1.17 then chatter,  Everything worked fine.  I recently installed Verichat 2.86 and still no issues.  This may be an isolated case.  I have had great success with both programs working simultaneously.

I've been having issues with this also on Treo 650 with ATT.  I've tried Chatterbox, Verichat, MunduIM4, and Yahoo messenger 2.5.  MunduIM4 will only connect to MSN and the rest won't connect at all.  I too have the vs. 1.17.
