Don't just buy the cheapest SD card you find, I have a SanDisk card and it is a bit unreliable, I don't mind as I back it up on my PC frequently. Next time I'd save up more money and buy a Panasonic card. If you want to record sound or video directly to the card (movierec & soundrec type apps) a card with a higher transfer rate will let you record higher quality.

I must revise my previous statement. Sandisk 256 is causing some problems. Treo crashes when it has to access card during hotsync. I've had to move all apps using conduits (via TealAlias) to main memory. I can sync okay if I pop the card out.  :-/

I can sync okay if I pop it in and out a few then sync with it in. I think "buggy" is a polite euphemism.

I'm looking to replace it now. Unfortunately, SD cards are a new animal for me. One post said the best for Treo was Sandisk Ultra II for speed. eek!.

Now what? If I get another, I want the transfer speed. But another Sandisk? I think not.

I don't know what to think.

I've also had a SanDisk (256), and I don't remember ever having a real problem with it, whether syncing, using a cardreader, or using directly from handheld (aside of course from write speed when writing directly to it).  I've always heard SanDisk to be rather reliable (both normal and ultra), though I definitely don't doubt that you can have problems.  I'd say don't write them off though just because of problems with one card, especially because SanDisk normal cards are VERY different from SanDisk Ultra cards.  Holla atcha bol

I agree with DickieD. Never had any problems with my 256 Sandisk either. It's freakin slow for writing (useless for sound recording) but it's sold with that speed so I won't complain.

There were some issues with Sandisk SD cards and Tungsten T3 and that was the reason why Sandisk got a bad name. They were nice enough to replace my card. I sold it to someone with Tungsten E and it has been working fine.

I understand Panasonic and Lexar cards are good for write speed and Toshiba or Hagiwara sys are hopeless.

There is a thread about card speeds somewhere ...
I have a PQI card which sometimes does reset the Treo600 when  installing a programme to card but, when I use Pilot Install the process goes smoothly and painlessly.

Hey aolumide- Any way i can get a copy of the VD encoded SWAT and Kill Bill from you?

I've been using an Ultra II Sandisk 512MB card for about 9 months now. It contains a subset of my Mapopolis GPS maps, some mp3's, and a couple of movies I encoded with VirtualDub for MMplayer (SWAT and Kill Bill).

Suffice it to say that it's pretty full. VFSMark scores for this SD card are the highest i've seen of all the SD's I've owned.

I'm sticking with the Ultra II line.  Wink

For what it's worth - snipped from a news group:

The Kingston may be a SanDisk.  There are only 3 manufacturers of SD cards that I know of - SanDisk, Toshiba, and Panasonic.  Kingston and all the others are rebrands of one of these.  I don't like SanDisk.

My SanDisk (512) has been returned under warranty.  Anxiously awaiting a replacement.  At least the warranty is good, and they make it easy to claim.

Lexar resells SanDisk and Panasonic.  Lexar cards made in Japan are rebadged Panasonic, which are probably the best available SD cards.  Those sourced from Taiwan are probably rebadged SanDisk.  I've had problems with SanDisk cards in the past, I will not buy SanDisk SD cards again.  However, I have had no problems using other SanDisk products such as their CF cards or USB flash drives.  SanDisk SD is also among the slowest (standard ones, not the Ultras).

So what is the best priced SD card, 1GB coz more than that will be too pricey, that will be fast enough to support recording video and audio directly to the card without any choppiness?

In the market for an SD card. Does anyone know if the Treo 680 is compatible with the SDHC's or I should stay with standard SD. I went to TigerDirect yesterday and the guy I talked to pretty much said to stay with the standard. He wasn't sure so his recommendation was pretty much "staying on the safer side".

pretty sure sdhc works on 680 as it came out after the 700P rom update.  wow oh wow did you revive an old topic LOL.  I'm pretty sure Patti (our resident 680 user) uses a sdhc.
