[Cross-posted to the 600 and 650 forums] I really like the program Keyguardtime that I found on this forum for my 650, but it has a problem - it corrupts the screen when it removes its popup clock. I tried to contact the author DavSnook but it appears he has dropped off, and none of the email addresses work. So, because the program is freeware I took a shot at debugging it. I'm happy to say I was successful - the problem is related to the hi-res display. I was able to retain pretty much the exact functionality of the original program, but I did add some additional tune-ups to the setup page, got the 5-way to work on it, and fixed some nits (the popup had a spurious comma on one mode, the text labels were a little confusing, etc). I'd like to test it a little before offering it to the downloads section, and of course give the author one more chance to pipe up. Mainly I'd like to be sure it still works on the 600, but I'd like additional testing on the 650 as well. So, if you're DavSnook, or you have a 600 and you don't mind being a guinea pig, send me email via the forum and I'll forward a test version of the updated program. I make no guarantees beyond the statement that it works for me, and functions largely the same as the original. Thanks!

The new application has been tested successfully on the 600 and 650, so it's officially released in the downloads section: http://mytreo.net/downloads/details-52.html?KeyGuard_TimeThere's a new "help tips" in the program's setup form, which is also in the zip package as text. Check it out and let me know here if anyone has suggestions for further improvement!

Can you add an option to have a solid background behind it when it is displaying the time. I would like a solid colored background that would contrast with the time and clock color so that it would be easier to read in bright light.

Hey, 'solid' sounds great! If you are just on it...: How about adding a function, that changes the color in reference to whether the SD-card is plugged in or not (feature: never forget your SD-card in your external card reader anymore...) cheers

I'm working on the clockface now, along with making it high-res on high-res devices like the 650. Also that digital clock's time font and some minor positioning tweaks. So I'll see what I can do with the background. It's hard to make it change color, because it's round. But we'll see.
I have been thinking about additional information displays for the hardware status. Card-in/out sounds pretty good. I'm also thinking Radio on/off and Bluetooth on/off. Any other wishes?
Last thing I hope to put in is a popup mode where it can appear on any screen, by pressing one of the launch buttons. I have it working, kind of, and it even returns to the screen/app you were in. But it's a little buggy and if the Treo was off, it has to time out before powering off again. One nice thing about this mode (so far) though is that it comes up on a white screen, so there's no issue with the clock background.
Keep the ideas coming!

How about whether or not we are connected for web browsing? I know some people had problems missing calls if they were connected even if they were not actually browsing at the time.

That's already there, though it's called Silent/Tone. I guess I could change the legend... How about whether or not we are connected for web browsing? Not sure about this. The program is designed to pop up when you power it on, which means you aren't really browsing. If you are browsing (and assuming I get the launch-style popup to work) then it's not really telling you anything you don't know?

Sorry about that. Didn't realize it was the same thing. Maybe a dumb question, but is the digital clock hi-res? Doesn't look like it to me.

Sorry I should have been more clear. What I meant was that the data connection was running. You know, the arrows appearing above the signal indicator. I wasn't meaning that I was actually browsing. Sorry to be so confusing. Thanks for listening.

Last thing I hope to put in is a popup mode where it can appear on any screen, by pressing one of the launch buttons. This would be great. I'll put my vote in for this. In addtion to the 5 hardware buttons, could you also make the key press customizable? For example, press/hold the volume rocker, or press hold the period key, etc.

Correct. Remember this app was written for the Treo 600. It has a low-res image for the clock face circle, although the hands are drawn with native graphics and so are effectively high-res. The large font used on the digital clock is also a low-res font. I am correcting these so they render at native resolution on either type of screen. As for the buttons - just to check - what "5" are you referring to? I don't believe the side or volume buttons can power the unit up. Only the phone, calendar, mail and power. Oh, and hotsync I guess. Well, unless you include inserting/removing the SD card!
