Where Am I 1.9 (for Palm OS)
Where Am I 1.9 (for Palm OS)
Where Am I (WAI) is a smart Google Maps Mobile companion tool for Palm OS. If you ever wanted to bind your bluetooth GPS receiver with Google Maps, then WhereAmI is the tool for you.
Please note that the application expects to connect to a bluetooth GPS receiver paired to your Treo. The application will not work without one!

I tried this before and it did not work. I have a Palm Treo 700p with Garmin Mobile XT. The program linked with the GPS just fine (even if the program were lying, I would know by the speed of the blinking on the device.) BUT, the coordinates will not read no matter what I do. I emailed the creator and he never emailed me back (months ago) then he cranked out a new version, which still did not address the problem.
jocamero: Great app, works great with a DeLORME GPS BT-20 and a Treo 700p.
I really wish this was built into the Palm version of Google Maps!!
wheatman: I would like it if it would access my serial GPS since I have a car cradle (Seidio)
rd8058: This soft is truely smart!! I like it,thanks alot
ChasTreo: Works well on my 680.
Just a shame the GPS receiver is not built in on these Treo's. Makes me want a Palm powered iQue unit.

1.9 (2008.10.08)
- Last read coordinates are kept between program launches with a time stamp (donors' version only)
- Added "Cut coords" and "Clear coords" edit actions
- WAI no longer invalidates previous coords readout unless it gets any replacement, instead of getting it cleared at the beginning of GPS comunication attempt, no matter of result.
1.8 (2008.06.19)
- WAI happend to give false altitude readouts in feets (meters were always fine). Reported by Ian Paton.
- Under some circumstances, online version checker could left progress window opened, forcing user to relaunch WAI to get rid of it.
- Fixed potential memory leak version checker could cause if there were some networking problems.
1.7 (2008.06.01)
- Children's Day gift ;)
- New, now built-in, on-line version checker
- Reworked code internals
1.6 (2008.01.10)
- WAI? now shows altitude as well (donors' version only). Please note that some GPS receivers are far from being accurate while estimating your altitude. So do not be surprised.
- Added Debug/Mimic GPS functionality. It was for my testing purposes, however I left it for demonstration purposes. So if you want to demo WAI? to someone and do not have any GPS reader nearby, feel free to use that option.
- You can now select what type of search you want Google Maps to perform: Location Search, Look for nearest business or Direction (From/To) search.
1.5 (2008.01.02)
- WAI? now remembers last used BT device (donors' version only)
v1.4
- Added support for latest Google's query handling (you must update if you wish to use WAI with GMM - all the older versions no longer work correctly)
- Added 5-Way navigation support
Compatible with: Treo 650, Treo 680 | Last updated: 12 Dec, 2008
