UGuide 1.36beta (for Palm OS)
UGuide 1.36beta (for Palm OS)
UGuide is a ubiquitous, mobile utility that enables subscribers to use mobile phones or other handheld wireless devices to view television program guides, receive personalized content recommendations and remotely control the scheduling of recordings on their Windows Media Center personal video recorders (PVRs).
UGuide uses comprehensive, nationwide TV listings for the US. You can use UGuide anywhere in the US where you have mobile phone service with a data plan. UGuide is not currently available outside the US.
NOTE: UGuide is a Java mobile application and requires that Java be installed on your device. You must install a Java capable environment. The IBM Java implementation WebSphere Everyplace Micro Environment is recommended by Palm, and is available at no cost to customers who purchased a Treo 650 smartphone, a Tungsten T5 handheld or a Zire 72 handheld. Go to http://www.palm.com/us/support/jvm/ for download details. Other customers with supported devices can purchase IBM WebSphere Everyplace Micro Environment at Software Connection for $5.99.
Please note that although this app has been reported stable and functional for most users, it is currently in beta stages and may present some errors for certain features and/or devices.
hfolmt: I used this program a lot, but check the website to see if the company is still around. Their website has not been renewed and the program doesn't recognize my log in anymore
framergp: works great and for free. you can't beat it. thanks
markmebane: Nice app. No problems yet on the 650. Compares favorably with Handmark's TV Guide.
Joad: 24 hours on a 700p with no crashes, and pretty positive results. You gotta give them your cell # and zip, then know exactly which cable provider's configuration you use (my area has several from the same provider with dubious name).
The GUI isn't the most beautiful or quick - it doesn't seem to cache much locally - if you have several channels selected, every time you scroll down beyond about 5 displayed it goes back to the network for more data. I'd rather it allow me to configure how much data to pull down at once - I've got RAM to burn now and EVDO - so let me pull down all channels within a certain time period.
Additionally, it doesn't seem to allow you to get any information previous to the moment you are checking - if you want to find out what movie you just caught the end of.... tough luck.. Also- some of the program descriptions seem lacking.
For the price, it's the best and simplest (affordable) implementation of real-time TV information I've seen yet.
pinoi_jigga: works pretty good so far, no reset on my treo 650 yet
