FOR SPRINT TREO 650 USERS ONLY
Sprint users of the Treo 650 will note that in the latest firmware revisions (after 1.08), PALM removed the button to record new tones directly with the Sounds app manager. The ability and function however is still there, and installing this overlay will reenable that button.
Note: As with most system tools, may require soft reset after initial installation. Few users have reported that the file may not work when installed, and have need for other files. As always, please use the mytreo.net forums to report any problems.
csonnichsen: just downloaded it, works perfectly. for the record I was told the file already existed, did I want to overwrite...yes...POOF! there it is. it was just replacing the section of the sound prog that sprint had them remove I presume. but what do I know i'm a newbie.
lalunatica: Hey willier18,,,,, i think im late in telling you, but there is a prog like that right here on MYTREO.
It's called MsgLenFix 1.0 (for Palm OS) search for it on the site, no limit texts!
computergeek: It ok, its really only for voice. If you try to record anything other then your voice right next to the phone it will sound horrible. So if you to hear youself say "PICK UP THE PHONE" as a ringtone, then go for it.
neosiam: hfe1977 u need to use a prog like filez or 3xcom to search for the file Sound_SPCS and remove it there. I didn't realise what it does, apparently i didn't need this patch coz I am using an unlocked phone.
hfe1977: after i installed it I can't find it in my phone to delete it. My phone softresets all of the time now
willier18: thanks!!! finaly i can record my own sounds!!!
waiting now for someone to put out a patch that allows text messages with sprint to be over 160 characters, and divides up the message acordingly.
fisfisbg22: NOTHING AT ALL INSTALLED IT SOFTRESET!! NOTHING HAPPEND ANY TRICKS ?
orinjohnson: In prefs, sounds, then tones.
pinoi_jigga: sorry to be a newbie but i just got my treo 650..so whrere is this option located?
KabukiAssassin: Wicked cool!!! I was so mad when Sprint removed this option, thank you! Has a mild bug though- I keep my system sounds set to 'off', and after recording a new sound, the system sounds are turned back on even though it still says 'off'. But if I click the menu & select 'off' again, they go back to normal without me having to reset or anything. No biggie!
