This utility greatly enhances the ability to create shortcuts for Palm devices, and more emphatically makes them MUCH easier to use. Never again be held back by the tedious 4+ button sequence of using Treo built-in shortcuts; now it takes just one additional character! Also, shortcuts are no longer as limited in character length. See below for further description.
ShortCut5 is a PalmOS 5.x preference panel which supports large (up to 4096 characters in size) shortcut definitions. The system shortcuts only supports small (about 45 characters in size) shortcut definitions. ShortCut5 shortcuts are in addition to the system shortcuts, with additional support for macro shortcuts.*
Limitations. Maximum of fifty shortcuts definitions. Each shortcut name is from one to four characters in length. Shortcut names are case sensitive and cannot contain the period "." character. ShortCut5 is only supported on PalmOS 5.x and on locales that use single byte characters. ShortCut5 will not recursively expand shortcut definitions.
Instructions. To expand a shortcut, enter a period "." character followed immediately by the shortcut name. Do not change fields or change the insertion point within the same field while entering the shortcut name. (See below for macro instructions.)
Activation options in the Preferences. This is used to selectively disable and enable this preference panel. (1) Enable all apps. ShortCut5 is always enabled. (2) Disable all apps. ShortCut5 is always disabled. (3) Disable for app list. ShortCut5 is enabled for all apps except for those in the app list. (4) Enable for app list. ShortCut5 is disabled for all apps except for those in the app list.
Notes. The shortcut will expand at a moderate speed (as to not overflow the key queue).
ffolliet: fan TASTIC!
only downside (9/10) is that the manual leaves me wondering if there are options that i should be able to explore but can't.
one of those, "more useful every time i use it" apps for those who've installed it and one that you don't install as you don't think you'd need it. you do!
can't get the pulldown menu bit to work effectively and not sure why. any user groups around?
ruzailee: Very good software
snsd: EXACTLY what I'm looking for. Thanks a million!!!
newf: The app does as it claims, is very handy, comes with good documantation, I've had no problem with it and, to quote the great William Shatner, "by gosh, the price is right".
The only reason I didn't rate it a "10" is the difficulty I had getting rid of it. I, recently, started using another app, which includes the Shortcut5 functionality; not free but it does a few other things, as well. Anyway, unless I missed it, documentation, on removing Shortcut5, is non-existent. I'd give it a "9", if the instructions were there, and a "10", if there were an uninstaller.
aimtrue: Very useful, great for putting in characters like • that will otherwise many keystrokes from the Alt menu.
Filiberto: Super recomendable, junto con el Graffiti 1.
flirtalamode: This is AWESOME! Use it with Graffiti 1 to make short cuts even easier!
jalessi: Awesome!! Saves a lot of typing.
DavidLWills: Fantastic program that makes adding a signature, contact information and a confidentiality message to my Treo-sent emails simple and quick.
