SecureX 1.3 (for Palm OS)
SecureX 1.3 (for Palm OS)
SecureX is robust and advanced PalmOS security application. SecureX implements the industry standard AES 256 bits encryption algorithm and SHA1 hashing technologies. Application databases are encrypted and decrypted transparently without any user intervention.
The PalmOS handheld is locked until the correct passphrase is entered before the handheld is unlocked. All passphrase entries are masked from the public view. SecureX has the traditional text passphrase entry and the new randomized keypad passphrase entry. Application alarms are handle properly by SecureX and with the SecureX reminder alarm feature you can be sure that you will never miss your alarms.
carlo_rub: As far as it goes for security, it is great. Why you ask?
1) protects an App, no mather how you try to get in.
e.g you get an sms, you can't get in by going through the asterix. ( Like applock for instance)
2) Looks professional (but 20$ is a whole lot of dineros).
sinkr: OF QUESTIONABLE VALUE:
* Prevents legitimate processes from running in the background (like TealBackup Automated backup)
* Does not transparently encrypt all databases as advertised. Two notable exceptions are SplashMoney transaction databases and pSSH public key and connection databases
* Author not terribly responsive or encouraging on addressing these problems
* Too expensive for what it offers; $9.95 would be more appropriate, give its current functionality
Version History
v1.3 Changes Jan 19, 2007
- Redesigned the password masking. Earlier versions the masking gives incorrect passwords on some deivces that uses font hacks.
- Redesigned system lock when the device is turned off. this gives better compatibility with 3rd party software
- Redesigned the auto lock timer. On newer devices like the Treo(R) 680 it wasnt working 100%
- SecureX password is now compatible with the Palm Desktop application. But the PIM databases are still not encrypted and only on theh device.
- Added support for encrypting the Contacts database on the Treo(R) smartphones. To secure the Contacts database goto the Encryption prefs in SecureX and check "Encrypt Contacts database". Note: if you have a large contacts database it will take time to decrypt when you get a call. SecureX will always decrypt the Contacts database when you turn on the Treo.
SecureX creates a new encryption key for the Contacts database.
- For Tungsten TE2 users we have included the Contacts and Calendar templates application. This will prevent the device to crash if Contacts and Calendar databases are encrypted during a soft reset. Install both files to main memory.
DO NOT DELETE THESE TWO APPLICATIONS FROM THE LAUNCHER. THE LAUNCHER WILL DELETE THE DATABASES ASSOCIATED TO THE APPS. YOU SHOULD USE A FILE MANAGER AND JUST DELETE THE APPS.
