PRC fileEver want to turn the bright LCD off during a phone call? Well SandMan does just that. Created by Marc Blank -- the Star Developer of the Chatter email program -- this utility does one thing and one thing only: it turns off the screen. Now you can not only save battery power whilst on a call, but you also in night situations no longer have to light up the room with the Treo.
In order to turn screen off during a phone call, you will need to install NotCarKit.prc (found here) or FakeCarKit.prc in order to override the car kit upgrade provided in most recent firmware by PalmOne.
Note: Although still functional, this program is no longer supported by the developer.

ek1234: I am using it on a 700p with no problems. Seems to really extend my talk time. 
willitb: Wow!! this works great on my treo 600!! 
danjonrem: This is what I wanted, to be able to turn the screen off when talking on the phone. This program dose this but interups the call for about 7 seconds, can't talk or hear. this would get a 10 if there were no delay. 
khiroshima: Read good things about this, but it caused my T600 to reset. Now using utility in TreoGueard, not free, but it works and I use the other utilities in it as well.
