Resco Locker 1.30.2 (for Palm OS)
Resco Locker 1.30.2 (for Palm OS)
Resco Locker is a utility that keeps applications locked in memory
on NVFS systems. While Resco Locker can be formally used on non-NVFS systems, it cannot do anything useful there.
One of the most frequent problems faced by changes to the Palm OS programming with the implementation of NVFS is that the Palm databases are no longer fixed. That's exactly the problem that is targeted by Resco Locker.
As a side effect, applications locked in memory need less time to load, which in turn may increase the performance of your handheld.
kenweise: Perfect. My very fickle 650 used to crash constantly (2-3 times per day). Hasn't crashed since I installed Resco Locker and configured in the way described in the manual. Absolutely excellent.
ilara: Great piece of sotware. Used it with Zlauncher, Agendus prof. 10 with Treo 650 and works flawlessly. Makes the apps launch and execute faster.
Ignacio Lara. Regards from Spain.
ixpert: The attached prc is still at v1.04??
rsperko: Very cool application. Definitely helps stabilize my Treo and speeds up loading of applications. I keep my launcher and datebk5 locked into memory.
Version History
v1.30.2
V1.30.1
- Locking is compatible with the newest Palm models: T700p, T680.
- Added the possibility to lock overlays that override some ROM database, i.e. RAM databases of the type 'ovly' which have a ROM DB with the same name/creator/type.
Purpose:
Under NVFS unlocked RAM overlays can be discarded from the DbCache and Palm OS may start using the original ROM file instead.
V1.21
- Bug fix: DB protecting limited to the Palm TX applications only
V1.20
- Attribute "P" denotes protected databases.
- "!" marks apps that might be acting on background. (They receive typical notifications.)
- You can save DbCache space by locking the code segments only. (Concerns apps only.)
- DA's display DA launcher icon.
- Help.txt included into the .zip installer.
V1.10
- (Bug fix) Prevented trials to lock ROM-based DBs. (This results in a crash.)
- Typing a char causes cursor movement (if single-selection) or scroll (multi-selection) to the first app, whose name starts with given char. (Use with name sort order only.)
- DA's (Desk Accessories) locking enabled.
- Sorting by the lock state possible
V1.05
V1.04
- preference panels added to the application list.
V1.03
- a formal change: another correction of the DB attribute "L" (locked).
V1.02
- corrects occasional bad display of the DB attribute "L" (locked). This might have happened in the full DbCache state.
V1.01
- locks the whole applications instead of just the first records. Remaining databases are further on locked only partially, i.e. just the first record.
