Sol29: As I can't modify or add to my original post, I just want to say that I finally was able to contact the developer, who over a period of a few weeks made impressive improvements in Pretty Map, many of which I asked for. He proved to be extremely responsive, and sent me new versions to try out. Now all my preferences have been embedded in this program, and I am very happy both with PrettyMap and the developer. My only wish: It would be great if there were a map bank somewhere so that everyone could share maps they create (with tools available on the PrettyMap web site).
shneor: I downloaded and installed this program. I'm mainly interested in GPS results on a map, but it appears that you have to basically supply and convert yuor own maps, except for a few sparse samples. PrettyMap displays the geographic coordinates from a bluetooth GPS unit, but not the elevation. I have sent two emails to the author with a couple of days between with questions, but have never had a response.
Version History
