Palm File Browser 1.4 (for Palm OS)
Palm File Browser 1.4 (for Palm OS)
PFB: PalmFileBrowser lets you manage your files on the Treo and the SD card directly from your Windows PC.
It has two major advantages over Softick CardExportII: it is freeware, and it let's you access files on the Treo itself. The disadvantage is that it requires an application on the PC. For installation instructions, please check Help.htm in the ZIP file or see the "detailed description" below.
NOTE: The prc download is the extracted handheld client filepc2pda only. You
must download and extract the zip to your desktop computer in order to transfer files.
Source available at developer website.

davidlbangs: When I start the Palm app, it says "could not open the com port!". I looked at all the settings, and they were right. It is hooked right up to my USB port, as always.
The Help file doesn't mention this bug. Since I see other people here couldn't solve the same problem - I give up.
aaric: Not all the files on my Treo storage card show up in the right screen of PFB, just some. Any ideas?
grumfe: Nice alternative to Card Export. Thanks for this cool and useful app!
Blaster^: AWESOME!!!(sums it up)Small,Fast and works thru the BT/Serial at 115200
Gets *****(5) stars from me!
scotime: I got the program to work but now I can't hot sync using my USB cable to my PC. Anyone else have this problem?
FragInc: Followed directions exactly and works just fine. Nice work!
carlosh944t: This is the best product for the treo. You can back up all your files from your phone to your computer. PLUS you can create directories so that when u add mp3s files you can set them in categories. But the best feature is YOU CAN BACK UP ALL YOUR FILES.
wildwill: Works great! No problems at all.
phanas1: I initially got the 'COM port an not open' error. That ame when I had not selected the 'speed' on invoking filepc2pda on Treo as per detailed instructions section. I tapped on right button at bottom on Treo and it allowed me to select the speed on Treo and after that I could connect with PC. Its running quite well for me now.
wilreed: Carefully follow the installation instructions below under "Detailed Description" and you should have little to no problems. I had problems when I first tried.

Detailed Description
The PFB package consists of 3 required components:
- filepc2pda.prc: The Palm application which has to be installed on your Treo via Hotsync, or download.
- sertransplg.dll: A Windows driver which must reside in the same directory as PFB.EXE (or optionally in a directory in your Windows PATH)
- PFB.exe: The Windows application itself
Installation
- Downloaded the ZIP archive and extracted all components in some directory on your PC. You should see the following files:
- filepc2pda.prc
- Help.htm
- LICENCE.TXT
- PFB.exe
- ReadMe.txt
- sertransplg.dll
- Using HotSync or whatever means you typically use, transfer filepc2pda.prc to the Treo. Make sure hotsync.exe is no longer running after the transfer, but keep the Treo and the PC connected via cable or cradle.
- On the PC side, invoke PFB.EXE (typically represented by a small magnifying glass icon).
- In the dialog that appears, select:
- Port: USB (Palm)
- Speed: 115200
- On the Treo, invoke filepc2pda.prc if it's not already running. Select:
and hit the connect button.
- If all goes well, you will see several messages including "connect", "ready" and "1 volume found".
You are now ready to transfer files between your Treo and your PC. When you're done, select "Disconnect" on both machines. Next time you want to transfer files, simply invoke PFB.EXE and filepc2pda.prc again (you won't have to change the settings).
