Palm File Browser 1.4 (for Palm OS)
Palm File Browser 1.4 (for Palm OS)
PFB: PalmFileBrowser lets you manage your files on the Treo and the SD card directly from your Windows PC.
It has two major advantages over Softick CardExportII: it is freeware, and it let's you access files on the Treo itself. The disadvantage is that it requires an application on the PC. For installation instructions, please check Help.htm in the ZIP file or see the "detailed description" below.
NOTE: The prc download is the extracted handheld client filepc2pda only. You
must download and extract the zip to your desktop computer in order to transfer files.
Source available at developer website.

HelloSailor: It doesn't work at all for the Treo650. Claims the Treo isn't connected. But it is properly installed, and connected.
ayelet: It works with T|X as well (Yes, I know... It's a Treo forum ;-))
bjmarler: It works with the settings everyone already stated....
PFB Program on PC: SET PORT = USBI SET SPEED = 115200 Make sure HOTSYNC MANAGER is OFF FilePC2PDA Program on TREO SET PORT = 115200
Nice free program.
LesMan: Works for me. 700p with USB Cable.
PFB Program on PC:
SET PORT = USBI
SET SPEED = 115200
Make sure HOTSYNC MANAGER is OFF
FilePC2PDA Program on TREO
SET PORT = 115200
Hit Connect
Took about 90 seconds to transfer a 28MB File. Not lightning fast, but IT WORKS, and it's FREE.
Sure wish the USB to USB setting would work - I suspect the transfer rate would be substantially higher.
walters: good
Sphermy: Great product as it is. Some experimenting with settings before I got it to work: USB (Palm) / 115200 did it for me, did not yet try the BT-connection.
One wish from my side: integration in de Windows Explorer... that would really make it awesome!!
Thanks and have fun!
ganeshn: This is a marvellous utility. This was a missing piece in Palms built in set of apps. Now I can seemlessly copy files from SD Card to my desktop
stjones911: Brain dead, couldn't connect to my Treo 650. It was worth every penny I paid for it.
dumbdumb: Great application. But I think it's RIDICULOUS that you have to register on this web site to get it. What's even more ridiculous is that you can't DL the app from the author's own site. STUPID!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
xingjl: works great on my 700p, need to set 115200 on phone side, USB on PC side.

Detailed Description
The PFB package consists of 3 required components:
- filepc2pda.prc: The Palm application which has to be installed on your Treo via Hotsync, or download.
- sertransplg.dll: A Windows driver which must reside in the same directory as PFB.EXE (or optionally in a directory in your Windows PATH)
- PFB.exe: The Windows application itself
Installation
- Downloaded the ZIP archive and extracted all components in some directory on your PC. You should see the following files:
- filepc2pda.prc
- Help.htm
- LICENCE.TXT
- PFB.exe
- ReadMe.txt
- sertransplg.dll
- Using HotSync or whatever means you typically use, transfer filepc2pda.prc to the Treo. Make sure hotsync.exe is no longer running after the transfer, but keep the Treo and the PC connected via cable or cradle.
- On the PC side, invoke PFB.EXE (typically represented by a small magnifying glass icon).
- In the dialog that appears, select:
- Port: USB (Palm)
- Speed: 115200
- On the Treo, invoke filepc2pda.prc if it's not already running. Select:
and hit the connect button.
- If all goes well, you will see several messages including "connect", "ready" and "1 volume found".
You are now ready to transfer files between your Treo and your PC. When you're done, select "Disconnect" on both machines. Next time you want to transfer files, simply invoke PFB.EXE and filepc2pda.prc again (you won't have to change the settings).
Compatible with: Treo 600, Treo 650, Treo 680, Treo 700p, Centro, Treo 755p | Last updated: 4 Feb, 2005
