Palm File Browser 1.4 (for Palm OS)
Palm File Browser 1.4 (for Palm OS)
PFB: PalmFileBrowser lets you manage your files on the Treo and the SD card directly from your Windows PC.
It has two major advantages over Softick CardExportII: it is freeware, and it let's you access files on the Treo itself. The disadvantage is that it requires an application on the PC. For installation instructions, please check Help.htm in the ZIP file or see the "detailed description" below.
NOTE: The prc download is the extracted handheld client filepc2pda only. You
must download and extract the zip to your desktop computer in order to transfer files.
Source available at developer website.

drincho: Also works fine on the treo 860
jdnorton2: Works for Treo 700p XP users: Set PC Port to USBI/Speed = 115200. TREO Port must be 115200. Good substitute for USB SD card readers.

firstnamemike: cant get it to transfer, although I can see the files
Fissile: Cant get it to work with treo 650 keeps getting the message that "USBPort.dll not found (need version 4.3 or newer)"

It works great, easy to use, and get the job done.
evil-e: Had to mess around with it some (USB 57600 instead of the 11200 or whatever it said) but it works great.

Detailed Description
The PFB package consists of 3 required components:
- filepc2pda.prc: The Palm application which has to be installed on your Treo via Hotsync, or download.
- sertransplg.dll: A Windows driver which must reside in the same directory as PFB.EXE (or optionally in a directory in your Windows PATH)
- PFB.exe: The Windows application itself
Installation
- Downloaded the ZIP archive and extracted all components in some directory on your PC. You should see the following files:
- filepc2pda.prc
- Help.htm
- LICENCE.TXT
- PFB.exe
- ReadMe.txt
- sertransplg.dll
- Using HotSync or whatever means you typically use, transfer filepc2pda.prc to the Treo. Make sure hotsync.exe is no longer running after the transfer, but keep the Treo and the PC connected via cable or cradle.
- On the PC side, invoke PFB.EXE (typically represented by a small magnifying glass icon).
- In the dialog that appears, select:
- Port: USB (Palm)
- Speed: 115200
- On the Treo, invoke filepc2pda.prc if it's not already running. Select:
and hit the connect button.
- If all goes well, you will see several messages including "connect", "ready" and "1 volume found".
You are now ready to transfer files between your Treo and your PC. When you're done, select "Disconnect" on both machines. Next time you want to transfer files, simply invoke PFB.EXE and filepc2pda.prc again (you won't have to change the settings).
Compatible with: Treo 600, Treo 650, Treo 680, Treo 700p, Centro, Treo 755p | Last updated: 4 Feb, 2005
