MSMount 5.0b8 (for Palm OS)
MSMount 5.0b8 (for Palm OS)
MSMount allow you to access palm applications and databases that are on the SD card as if they were on the DRAM of your Palm device. With MSMount, an application that does not directly support the Virtual File System can still access data files stored on the SD card. You can move some large databases (ex. dictionary) from RAM into the SD Card and free up space on the device.
This is a beta version with support for OS5.
Note: not suitable all applications. Careful experimentation advised.
DJHarris71: Great idea, but if you choose the wrong app to try this on, it goes into a loop of soft booting. I had to hard reboot my Treo 600 and start over - without adding this again.
cerahati: This is superb! Goodlink is a RAM hog application in addition I need to install huge DOcVis to Go, this apps help me to free up space by moving Doc to Vis to go to mounted SD card space. Good work!
Oxen_Morale: After installing this app I was able to mov some very large files and libs to my 1GB SD card. I had over 14MB free on my Palm! the apps ran a bit slower but it was ok. then one app, VeriChat would not work. I tired to move it back but was unable to. I did a software reset and my palm went into a perpetual reboot. I had to Nuke my Palm. be warned about this app.!!
hereje: This is a great application, combined with Filez, I could put all non-sense data in card SD, like encyclopedias, ebooks, ALL THE
GAMES, big databases. I put it in several directories by categories and I remained with 16+ mb free.
When I need some application I enable MSMount in the directory where the application is stored and voilá! Thus avoid my Treo from running little slow.
I put the data in these directories even when some of them are possible to be run from SD Card because managing with MSMount gives me another advantage: I can categorize all the applications so they don't appear disordered in SD Card. Till now all the (58) applications have worked perfectly.
yulianto: I've used this program successfully on Treo 650.
In general I still prefer PowerRUN to handle offloading of program files to SD card(s)... but there are some situations that MSMount can handle and PowerRUN can't, that's why I have both of them on my T650.
CAVU: This app doesn't work on T5 and probably will have problems with 650. I have tried several time to contact developer without any reply over several week period.
Slartibartfast: This works well for most programs and it's free. I did find Zlauncher slightly better but that costs $
Amar09: Is very good , have given me the chace to free up space on my phone. All though when all applications are moved, the phone slows down a little bit- but with just data its fabilous. The treo 600 with just about 30Mb of internal ram is a little too small for aplications these days. MSMount comes into action here. A good application a must for all treo owners....
