KeyShades controls the keyboard lighting. It is intended for the Treo 650 only, but has been found to work on 680 and 700p as well.

This application has no launcher icon, but can be uninstalled by deleting it from the launcher's Delete screen as usual. No hack manager is required.

A reset is required after installation. Normally this will be automatically triggered by Hotsync. However, if you install using an alternative method, you may need to perform a reset manually.

After resetting, the keyboard LEDs will be off. They can then be toggled by holding the side button down for a short time -- normally one second, but if keyshades is used with KeyCaps600/KeyCaps650, the hold time is the same as the hold time specified in the KeyCaps configuration.

The new use of the side button behavior does not interfere with the use of the side button as a launch key. The side button can be released once the keyboard light toggles and the application will not be launched. Also, if the button is held after the application mapped to it launches, the keyboard lights will return to their original state.

Keyshades must be deleted from the launcher screen before any upgrades are installed.
