jguentert: I am sure I would buy this app for my Treo 650 if there would be a good looking interface (or skin) like LauncherX or SilverScreen available for it. Hobbyist is a great developper but he would need some professional assistance from a UI designer - and he could become rich with his fantastic software :)

dzinermw: Initiate (I8) is my absolute most appreciated app on my Treo 650 (other than Google Maps)!! The thought process that's gone into creating this program is exceptional! And even tho the mechanics seem to have been thought thru completely, The Hobbyist keeps finding more ways to improve it, including taking suggestions SERIOUSLY! (His generous attitude has also been observed even when approached with otherwise obviously silly inquiries.) Working with I8, you immediately find the ability to access EVERYTHING in your RAM & on your card, and that's what's been most valuable to me. But in addition to that, there's sooo many versions of skins available, including my favorite: The Purist! It's clean, no excess info I'm not interested in, & I have only a photo on my screen with the time, date & battery level, and that's it! Nothing else is necessary until I need to do a search for something. Then I just type in a few letters check the list as I type and immediately it opens to what I'm looking for! The ability to use the voice activation is invaluable when driving, and the ability to keep MANY other apps on the card and just move them to RAM when needed has provided for enormous amounts of the 650's precious little RAM to be freed up for those apps not able to be stored on the card and moved to RAM using I8. The more that can be utilized tho, the more valuable I8 will be for you!! The set up isn't all that tough, either, but the ability to customize it completely for your own needs is wonderful!! Try it and see for yourself! What's to lose?!! Thanks, Hobbyist, for such a powerfully simple tool!

macr0t0r: Arnie: You never tried it...yet gave it one star because of it's looks (which happen to be fully customizable with different fonts, templates, and backgrounds). Right.... I've been using this app since 0.9b! Hooo...this developer is matching ZLauncher status for features, yet it's smaller and more stable! Voice dial? Got it. Custom button conrols? Got it. File manager? Got it. Hot-keys? Got it. It's ability to smart-search so that you can skip letters as you type a name for a contact/application/mp3 makes it ridiculously fast to grap something off your treo. Remember Google's advice: search not sort. It's true! It's oh-so true! My favorite thing to do with this is have it start on my favorite's page. I have a list of items where each one starts with it's own letter. It gives me a one-key quick-launch of my top 26 applications. Seriously, this mixed with ScrBtn has made my Treo a faster-access machine than any pokey Win-Mobile machine could hope to be. In reference to victorinsq: Yah, 1.5 had issues. They were a thing of the past in 1.7. Give it another try! - Jim

agentnine: I love this program! I hated the red icons but use the minimalist skin and learned how to use it with the e-mail lessons and I have to say, they were informative and I fel in love with it. I love the favorite screen and the fact I can go to the main screen with a tap of spelling the program I want. Voice launches real nice too. Give it another try, and you might have to have it too!

victorinsg: I used Initiate for 1.5 years. I have to say to those who complain it have an ugly UI and poor functionality, I completely disagree with you. The UI is very configurable and can be beautiful. I grew a habbit of clicking the home buttom for no reason, just to see the UI. (I use the Chisled skin and hide all apps except "Owner" and my contact, which gives me an unobstructed view of the beautiful background). Initate allows for quick search and launch of apps and contacts, I really enjoyed the way it operates. So why did I remove it and give it an 8, instead of 10? I suspected I8 causing random crashes and lost of preferences. I recent hard reset my Treo and have not installed I8. My Treo 650 has been extremely staty!

leebridges: I love this app because it is highly customizable. i would not suggest this product if you expect to install it and leave it (without customizing it).

dfrossar: I've been trying out ArrowLauncher, the now-defunct predecessor. I love it. Initiate, though it has some interesting ideas, is just one of many old-school launchers of the Launcher III, LauncherX, SilverScreen variety.
