HeadCold is a small PalmOS utility that will allow you to direct the sound output of a Treo 600 or a Treo 650 to either the built-in speaker or the headphone jack. You can also chose the auto mode, which will automatically switch the output to the headphone jack whenever a set of headphones is plugged in. Unplugging the headphones in auto mode returns the sound output back to the Treo speaker.

griffinca: Great app. HERES A USEFUL NOTE - IF YOUR TREO's SOUND IS OUT - it could be the phantom headset plugged in problem. The Treo thinks a headset is still plugged in cause the switch gets stuck. Solution is sometimes to blow robustly into the hole for the headset jack, which frees up the little switch. Posted here cause some people looking at this app have that problem to solve.
mpearsontreev: Same issue as others: plugged in a headset and then poof, the speaker phone or microphone wont work. I used this handy app and it fixed the problem.
davidhclee: I have a Treo 650 which works only with the headphone plugged in, no sound output from the internal speaker at all. Tried the head phone jack fix, but couldn't solder the signal 1/signal 2 pads because they are so small. Decided to try HeadCold to divert the sound to the speaker - hey, presto! it works! My Treo 650 is svaed from the junk heap!!!

redcore: Might as well add "680" to the tested with column, because it worked for me. I'm not sure why, but when I used my phone with my headset...it wouldn't go back to the internal speaker/mic mode. I figured what the hell, might as well try this since I couldn't use my phone - and good thing it worked out. Thanks a lot!
conradknapp: yeah with a lot of other comments it did get the headphones to work but does not auto swith so i have to make sure i manually switch or i will never hear a call

dbareis: Excellent (except it doesn't remember settings after soft restart. Needed as my car kit's speaker has high pitch squeal, so override to use inbuilt speaker.
garageink: it'd be a 10 if auto worked on my 600. otherwise works great.
atvh: Just FANTASTIC and Great! I can now listen to usic from my Treo 600 and not have to carry a mp3/WMA player around with me. My Treo is now an all rounded TOOL.
One small comment is that the AUto function does not work on my Treo but I can live with that as I can chose when to or not to have sound from the speaker.
