dbScan is a utility program that performs an integrity check on the Datebook and other PIM databases.
It scans every record in the database looking for errors which indicate that corruption has occurred. For example, records that are out of position (all records are supposed to be in chronlogical order), or records that have invalid dates, or where a note field exceeds the maximum length. There are conduits that do cause problems on occasion, most often due to the presence of deleted records, and dbScan is the quick way to pinpoint the culprit without endless finger-pointing.
The latest version of dbScan now scans not only the DatebookDB, but also the other PalmSource PIM DBs (AddressDB, MemoDB, ToDoDB) as well as the palmOne proprietary DBs on such devices as the Treo 650 (ContactsDB, CalendarDB, MemosDB, TasksDB).
You do not need to have this installed at all times on your device, but if you are using some new software that modifies the datebook database and start to have problems, dbScan will prove to be invaluable.

diego961: The only tool able to solve a two months period of incomplete and resetting hotsyncs (tried every other possible solution, for corrupted DB due to the transition from Tungsten to Treo) - excellent!
Joad: Probably the best tool available to us 'civilians' in the fight against the Palm NVFS 'Data Mangler' problems. (calendar and tasks fail synchro on Hotsync).
Very generous of Pimilco to offer this as freeware. Hopefully PalmOne will kick him some money for creating the need for this software but no good solution.
