BackupBuddyVFS is designed to work with the Virtual File System (VFS) on your Treo's SD Card. You can use BackupBuddyVFS on almost any Palm OS device with a memory card.
With BackupBuddyVFS installed on your organizer, you can effortlessly backup your organizer's critical files to the Secure Digital cards. In the event of a loss of data, you can then use BackupBuddyVFS to restore your organizer's data from an expansion card. As a result, you no longer need to wait until you have access to your Hotsync cradle or a modem to backup or restore your data.
BackupBuddyVFS provides you with peace of mind when you are on the road - effortless mobile backups and restores from the company that thousands of users trust every day with their most valuable data.

reverendrhino: This is the BEST back up app a Treo can have. It works great on my Sprint Treo 700p, thanks Bluenomad...
wombat88: I've used Blue Nomad programs long before they were Blue Nomad. This application was worth the upgrade. I've installed one other backup program just to be safe but so far this does what it says.
r4bz: sounds great...4 stars...expires in days, though. will comment again in a few days. thank you for letting me try this before i purchase.
Pagnaa: So good. Thanks for making it available.
mdasac: Super quick and easy backups and restores. Never a problem. Downloads easily using the Treo.
Lick: great app.
mastersith2005: downloaded and installed 3.2.5 today and it crashed on my first backup since the "upgrade". not promising. now, it appears to have choked on my calendarDB-PDat file.
pritterpritter: The best backup program. The best restore program. What else could ask for.

- Standard Zip compression and encryption: this allows you to access your backup files directly on your desktop computer, for example. Note that Zip encryption isn't very strong, so we still support our legacy compression and encryption format (based on Zip, and TEA, respectively). Zip file creation requires a device running Palm OS 5 or later.
- Third-party application locking (Advanced mode): newer Palm devices, such as the Treo 650/700p, work with a new type of memory (i.e. Non-Volatile File System, or NVFS). Unfortunately some older background applications don't interact well with this type of memory, and can cause the device to become unstable especially when doing large amounts of file read/writes. You now have the option to lock those applications in memory during our backup operations to make backups more reliable.
- Continuous backup (Advanced mode): allows you to keep your important files continously backed up as you use your device. So for example, if you add an entry to your Address Book and switch away or power off your device, the file will be backed up immediately.
- Multiple backup sets (Advanced mode): allows you to tailor your backups more precisely. e.g. have one profile for scheduled backups, and another when backing up when your device powers off.
- Backup on low battery
- Automatic checkpoint creation (Advanced mode): BackupBuddyVFS can now automatically create checkpoints every X days, and every X backups. You can also limit how much space to allocate to checkpoints.
- Tree-View (Advanced mode): the older versions of BackupBuddyVFS presented your backup files in a flat list; version 4 replaces this with a tree view making it easier for you to identify which files you'd like to backup and restore.

BackupBuddyVFS Professional versus BackupBuddyVFS Personal
BackupBuddyVFS Personal (previously called BackupBuddyVFS:Lite) is basically BackupBuddyVFS Pro without the advanced features, such as incremental backups, selection of which files get backed up or restored, and preferences, such as scheduled backups, encryption, checkpoints etc. For example, BackupBuddyVFS Personal will enable you to backup ALL of your organizer's files to or restore ALL of your organizer's files from an expansion card or Sony Memory Stick.
