Special thanks to Laura Rooke for contributing this review!

SplashMoney for the Windows Mobile platform was released in January 2008.

If you are looking for a simple but very effective way to manage your finances, then this product may be for you. It includes a desktop application as well as the Windows Mobile application. Transactions can be entered on either desktop or device and then all changes can be synced between the two.

Why I Love Genius

Posted by webmaster at 07:00 AM
genius2001.jpg

In this look at Hobbyistsoftware's program Genius, mytreo.net forum member Perry Gonzalez tells us why he loves the application, and gives us some insight into its many uses.

There is nothing better than always being right. RIGHT?
Especially in a group of people who are discussing…whatever.

So recently a group of us were figh- I mean "debating" over who played Fred Mertz in I Love Lucy. We actually couldn’t come up with any names. It was more like,
"Remember the guy from my three sons?"
"Wasn’t he in The Three Stooges?"
"I think he played the Cowardly Lion."

Herocraft's Revival

Posted by Sion Phillips at 11:00 PM
revival001.jpg

Revival is a turn based strategy game similar to games like Age of Empires or Civilization. Compared to most other games you play on the Treo this is a very in-depth game that can take several hours for just a short game.

The game is really well designed, and honestly feels more like an old-school PC game than your standard Treo game. You get treated to a nice bold splash screen, an animated introduction, and pages of scrolling storyline provided before and during each game.

PictureLink Shortcuts to Everywhere

Posted by Alli Flowers at 11:00 PM
PicLink00.jpg
If you peruse mtdn's Applications Forum, you might notice that one of the most frequent requests is the ability to change the application icon. While some third party launchers (like ZLauncher) give you this ability, not all do, and it leaves no hope for those users who prefer the minimalism of the default launcher. Taking this idea, and going several steps further, Toysoft has released PicLink, a program that will not only allow you to change the application icon, but allow you to create your own icon shortcuts to quickly dial a contact, go directly to any favorite webpage, begin listening to your favorite playlist, and much more.

Astraware heads "Westward"

Posted by John Andrews at 10:56 PM
west001.jpg
Westward is a new game from Astraware that will let you experience life in the Wild West. You start out as Daniel Logstein, a settler in a small town that has just been robbed by bandits. An excellent interactive tutorial teaches you how to help the Sheriff get rid of the bandits and rebuild the town. Then, with some encouragement from the Mayor, you set off on new adventures in the land of opportunity.

When you first start out, you have only a covered wagon, and your options are limited. You can convert your wagon into a wagon camp which can support a small number of people. But if you want to create a larger settlement you will need to convert your wagon camp into a lumber camp so you can start building houses, gold mines, and other items that will be essential for growing your small settlement into a large town with a general store, hotel, and of course a saloon (not necessarily in that order).

Iambic Vehicle Manager Review

Posted by webmaster at 04:00 PM
MainScreen.jpg

Veteran mytreo.net forum member Lizzrd was thrilled to discover Iambic's new Vehicle Manager for Palm OS, previously available for Windows Mobile. Special thanks to Lizzrd for contributing this review!

While Iambic’s Vehicle Manager has been available for Windows desktop and Windows Mobile for some time, I’ve contacted Iambic twice in the recent past to whiningly inquire whether they’d be offering this application for the Palm platform any time in the future. Their response was affirmative, but with no firm ETA. Imagine my surprise to see that Iambic rolled out its Palm version last week!!

Pinger: Instant Voice Messaging for your Treo/Centro

Posted by webmaster at 09:49 AM

By Perry Gonzalez

The following text message transcript is not real. Any similarities between it and an actual text message are purely coincidental. No letters or punctuation marks were hurt during the making of this transcript.

- Management.

“Hey. I just got my new Centro! :-)”
“LOL. That’s great!!!”

Y’know…I hadn’t STARTED out texting much. Occasionally I’d have to reply “Stop” to an unwanted solicitor, or “Ha ha. That’s a good one Rusty” to another. But after my daughters, and several friends continued sending me messages,I found myself texting more and more. And then, when I saw the number of text messages on my bill….

PhoneFavs makes Blazer better on your Centro/Treo

PFavs001.jpg
You have a bookmark on your computer at home. Now you are at work but you can't remember the URL to save your neck. Or, if you are anything like me, you have probably at some time or other found a site that you wanted to bookmark on your phone, but found yourself dreading entering the whole, big, long thing. Or perhaps you had a site that you wanted to share with a friend. Now there's a solution to all of these little problems. PhoneFavs is a new, Social Bookmarking system optimized for Mobile Users.

FileZ - Greatest free app of all time?

Posted by Sion Phillips at 12:51 AM
FZimage001.jpg

One of the best things about the Palm operating system is the huge amount of free software available. There are a vast number of games, applications and utilities just waiting to be discovered and installed on your Treo or Centro.

Of the many freeware titles available, FileZ is the one I think is most important, and use more than any other. It's also one of the most frequently recommended applications on the mytreo.net forums.
