or The design is clever, and while it wasn't made to work with a Treo, it works more easily with a Treo than the manufacturers could have imagined. To charge the battery itself, you plug a standard usb cord into the charger at one end and your computer's usb port at the other end. The usb cable is just one of the many extras supplied with the Mobile Survival Kit. The charger comes pre-charged, and it takes only a short while to charge it completely. A row of blue LED lights on the front of the charger show you that it's fully charged.
The really cool part is that this charger comes with all sorts of cool adaptors so that you can charge your Nokia, Micro USB, PSP, Sony Ericsson, Samsung, and iPod. The adaptors attach via a retractable usb cord with a multipurpose tip. I originally thought that one of the universal tips would work with the Sprint adapter that came with my Centro. I quickly saw that this was unnecessary, and I could simply and easily plug my JavoSync retractable sync charge cord directly into the Micro Charger! I can fit my Centro and the charger (plugged in), right in my purse.
Because of the way the usb sync/charge cable fits, this is a great solution to all Treo models. It is especially nice to use with the Centro with its super small 1150 mAh battery. It's mathematically almost twice as good as simply carrying a spare battery. You can either run your Treo while plugged into the Micro Charger, or charge your Treo and go. You can also pick up usb adaptors to charge your Treo and the Micro Charger when you have access to ac power via those usb cables.

So you could use this as a charger if you were w/o ac overnight? You'd charge up the Proporta, and then use it to charge your Treo while on the road? Am I understanding it's function properly?

You got it, Lizzie!

I'll be curious to hear how long it will hold it's charge, and how many times it will recharge a device on one charge itself. Please do report back!! :o)

Seems to me like one more bundle of cables and a brick to lug around. Another Treo battery (and maybe that neat Palm travel charger) works just fine for maintaining power.
Alli says:
What bundle of cables? You're already carrying a sync/charge cable, and a battery that's smaller than a Centro can hardly be considered a brick.

Joad, did you not bother to read my review? If you use a Treo you don't need all those cables. You carry around your retractable sync/charge cable. That's it.
The Palm battery charger is nice, but you have to have a 2nd battery to put in it. The Proporta device replaces both the charger *and* the 2nd battery.
