Thanks to a thread in the Treo Discussion Forum, I discovered that you can sync your Treo calendar with your online Google account. For any Treo (Palm OS or Windows Mobile!) Google offers a fast, free method of syncing your Treo to your Google account wirelessly.
(An unlimited data plan is definitely recommended.)
There are two versions of Goosync, the basic version which synchronizes your Treo calendar to your Google account, and the subscription version which gives you a few additional features including syncing multiple calendars, and viewing attendees.Setting up Goosync is a breeze, and it's all free. You need two accounts, one for Goosync, and one for your Google (tied in to your Gmail account). The two accounts are then linked so that after syncing your Treo you can go to your personalized Google page and view your calendar. The only other requirement is the Goosync application (only 447k for the Palm os version). The major limitation of Goosync at this time is that it must be initiated manually, and cannot be scheduled. Your sync must also be done wirelessly rather than via cradle/cable.
There isn't a whole lot to the application that resides on your Treo. The majority of the setup is performed on your computer. Once the application is loaded onto your device, the only real setup you have to do is enter your user name and password.
As with any hotsync, Goosync gives you a sync log. The main application also shows you when you last performed a sync.
If you haven't used Google's calendar, now is a great time to start. While I always have my Treo with me, I'm not always on my own computer with my Palm desktop available to for collaborative viewing. There are many times it's helpful having more than one person looking at the calendar.
Google's online calendar view gives you multiple calendar views including month, day, week, and agenda. You can also search for an event. You have a fully functional calendar, available everywhere.
I love being able to sync wirelessly. One of the things I never cared for about the old Yahoo PIM sync was that it replaced my Palm desktop/Outlook. I'm thinking of setting a new calendar alert to remind me to Goosync once or twice a week. Of course, now that I've tried this, I can't wait for Google to offer additional features for the rest of my PIM data!

Goosync may only be available for UK Treo users. The above link quotes a price of £19.99.
I didn't see any reference for Goosync on Google's Calendar for Mobile pages.
My comment may be premature as I was only half way through the sign up process when the site suddenly became unavailable for what ever reason.

I use goosync in the US-- it works very well-- I bought the multiple calendar version, (the calendar I use is shared, and is not my google main calendar) The only thing is that I haven't quite figured out how to add new things to my calendar on the Palm to make sure it goes to the shared calendar, and not to my main, private calendar. I'm ending up with repeated engagements (on my main calendar, and on my shared calendar) if they could fix it so that it doesn't update your main calendar, or you could choose only one calendar to update, I would be a VERY happy camper instead of a happy camper.

BTW, GooSync is not associated with Google. It's a separate company providing a free and a paid service for syncing mobile devices to Google Calendar.
I have had problems with duplicate items too with the free version so I tend not to use it that often. By default the free version syncs 7 days back and 30 days forward.
There are other ways to access google calendar from your treo and get notifications without syncing your calendar. You can go to the mobile google calendar at http://google.com/calendar/m and view your calendar from the Blazer browser (or Opera-mini, etc) on your Treo.
You can also set your Google calendar to send you text messages to alert you of upcoming events (very useful).
And you can add new events to your google calendar either with the mobile interface or by texting 48368 (GVENT) something like "dinner at Mike's 6pm September 20" and it will add it to your main calendar.

GooSync is fantastic, I just wished this was a function provided by Google, instead of having to pay $26 a year...but it really is worth it!
Those are some great tips joachimv! Thanks :)

Hi Guys,
KafClown: if you add a category to the event created on your treo you can sync that category with a specific Google Calendar.
ColonelKernel: GooSync is availaible world-wide, if your device can see www.goosync.com you can sync :-)
BTW We just made the premium account more attractive, it now syncs contacts, we add autosync soon too.
Happy GooSyncing

I tried the GooSync client with my Treo 680. It sounds great in concept, but I travel extensively and the GooSync client does not support timezones on the 680. If I change timezones and sync it will duplicate and/or create events at the wrong time.
