Overview
Frucall Text is a fast, easy-to-use service that allows consumers to search for online prices via 2-way SMS. Frucall users simply send an SMS message to a specific number and include the characters “fru s” followed by a product barcode in the body of the message. The search results are quickly sent back to the user’s phone. There are also a number of useful short cuts that can be used with Frucall Text to access other Frucall features. Frucall Text is currently in beta and consumers are invited to send an email to support@frucall.com to get more information on how to access this service.

Interesting service.
However, for a company that claims to be very concerned with data protection, it's not a great sign that their signup page doesn't use SSL - in other words I would not give them any of my credit card or other data since my logon and password is going over the internet in plain text to them.....

Thanks for mentioning Frucall! We're glad to see you find our services useful. Joad is right, we disabled SSL temporarily for a few days due to security certificate changes. SSL will be turned on again by the end of today, so there's no need to be concerned about the protection of your personal data. Feel free to send us any comments or suggestions you may have!

Thanks for the response! I did notice that AFTER you signup and give a password you are fed SSL pages later - I was able to *change* the password under SSL, just seemed odd I couldn't sign up that way. Anyhow, it seems Frucall is responding to this issue and that's a good sign...

I just tried this service, works great and is a great idea....I find it funny that my barcode search for a product was sponsored by naughty next door girls....lol Not that theres any pictures, but my mom wouldnt get a kick out of it. But great product, and make that advertising money!
