Card Reader
One of the most frequently asked newbie questions is, “How do I get my MP3s onto my SD card?” The easiest way is by using Card Reader by Mobile Stream.
It’s as simple as placing your Treo into the cradle, or plugging in your sync/charge cable. You don’t even have to remove your memory card to access it with Card Reader. All you have to do is press the button that says Connect, and your Windows XP computer will open up a window displaying a new drive letter and asking how you would like to view its contents.
Once this connection is made, you can copy or drag/drop back and forth from your computer to your SD card. It’s great for music and video file transfer; and, unlike the card reader you may have sitting on your desk, it’s guaranteed to read the card in your Treo. So many card readers won’t read the new larger (4 gigabyte) cards. But this isn’t an issue with Card Reader. If your Treo sees the card, Card Reader sees the card.
There are other advantages to using Card Reader over a card reader as well. Not only doesn’t the card size/type matter, you don’t have to carry a card reader with you when you travel. Card Reader transfers as quickly as a physical read/writer, and certainly much faster than via hotsync.

two points to further clarify, 1. this requires no additional software to be installed on desktop computer so is truly portable between computers!, 2. This will work with any modern OS cable of detecting the Treo as a USB device ie, Linux, MacOSx and even Windoze
Just bought full version through mtdn. The demo download is v. 1.05. However, the full version I paid for IS NOT v.1.05 (certified for treo 680) but v. 1.04 (which is not). Cannot find any way or any place to download current version. Furthermore it does not have the same screen as shown in picture in the above article. This is NOT good. :-(
Same for me. Intend to buy version 1.0.5 and get only full version 1.0.4.
I purchased v. 1.04 from Palmgear.com ($9.95), but dowloaded v. 1.05 from Mobile-Stream.com…it’s only trial version. PALMGEAR does not offer latest option :(
UPDATE: Soon after posting my comment (above) I e-mailed MTDN support and Mobile-Stream. In less than one hour I had the 1.05 full version from Mobile-Stream - in response to MTDN’s request. Then a few hours later I also received the full 1.05 version from Mobile-Stream. Apparently they hadn’t uploaded the 1.05 before that. Thanks MTDN!!!!!
Just got also v 1.0.5 from Mobi-Stream in reply to my e-mail to them.
wouldn’t it be better if you get a sd card reader? they are pretty cheap and faster than software solution and it never crashes ;) No additional software required either. just plug in the USB.
Smiley you are missing the point I have my Treo with me and no desire to carry around another device when the Treo will suffice
Card Reader is GREAT and I highly recommend it :)
I understand the point of not needed to carry another SD card reader. However, don’t you have to carry at least a USB sync cable??
TOTALLY UNNECESSARY!!!
smiley and webedc are absolutely correct!
Check out the Pocket Drive for Flash Memory Cards ( http://www.iogear.com/main.php?loc=product_category&category=storage). It is the size of a flash drive and basically turns your SD card into a flash drive and removes the need for a cable. The thing costs between $9 & $14 AND you can pick up a 2GB 150X QMEMORY SECURE DIGITAL CARD for only $45 (http://www.flash-memory-store.com/qmemory-sd-150x-2gb.html) and have a great backup for your Treo or carry music or video, it is faster than the cable connection and elliminates the need to carry a spare Flash Drive.
Don’t waste the money on this product, check these sites out first.
I downloaded this product today. It is great and so easy to use! I had just copied music from one SD card to a larger one last night. This product would have saved me one step I had to do in the process.
Great product……great price!!
There is another alternative: the Ultra II SD card. This is an SD card which, with a little flip of a part of the plastic case, becomes a card that you can plug right into a USB port. http://www.dpreview.com/news/0502/05021902sandisk_ultraiiplus.asp
