mytreo.net has independently confirmed with a reliable source that rumors about the upcoming Treo Nitro & Lennon models are true. Palm is to release two new devices with approximately the specifications outlined earlier (UMTS and Class 10 EDGE, a 1.3 mega pixel digital camera, WiFi, and Windows Mobile 5.0 with MSFP). We have also learned that form factor will mark the first material deviation by Palm from that established by the Treo 600 almost four years ago. The new devices will not have protruding antennas, and will be thinner and lighter than recent models.

Today an image surfaced on Engadget that is purportedly of a Treo code named "Hollywood." The device pictured does not have an antenna. Although we cannot confirm nor deny the validity of the blurry picture, clearly it's consistent with what we are hearing about Nitro & Lennon, and so we are inclined to believe it's real. Hollywood is rumored to have Windows Mobile 5, 128MB of internal storage, and a 412MHz XScale core, and to be lighter than the Treo 700w model. The device is expected to reach the market in about two months.

first off my tiny two cents if the pic is even remotely a view of the new the person(s) responsible for takin it must have some kind ofspecial priveledge orspecial connection to be even holding it i make this judgement simplyt because average treo users like myself(2yrs) have littleto no way of gettn our hands on a prototype or beta version of upcoming treo's what im hinting is that this pic looks to me like a 700w or 700p with the antenna removed this judgement should also takes into consideration of the quality of the photo, now if this were supoosedly leaked which it is, then the person(s) who have obtained this info and prototype also shouldve and couldve provided a better pic,
because A-anyone able to have this in their positionin my opinion is certainly capable of at least having a way to provide better pics(ie.digital camera even the crappy treo 650 cam takes clearer pics) this being my assumption and please here me when i say my, i feel these pics are hoaxes however if the specs are real which to me they should be and are extremely long overdue than i will consider making th e switch to wm5 os seeing that it has 128mb onboard and wifi which f0r me buys me more vthan anything ALSO INLCUDED THE FACT THAT FROM WHAT i hear will be released gsm first i will jump on however if palm supplies a crappy res screen ie 700w i will more then likely pass , btw i am a 2yr treo vet and treat my treo as good as i do my gurl i even have my enfora adapter which took months of troubleshooting till if inally got it to work lol

Glad for the non CDMA guys. New that sucker was goin' to run WM5. Wonder what the odds are release will be stateside versus Asia or Europe. I know my bet.
Think in the long run, though, I'll keep the antenna and PALM OS.
That blurry photo thing has just become the standard huh? Drives some people crazy :) .

Looks like the 700 with the antenna chopped off. People who bought a pay as you go treo 700p aren't gonna be happy are they but everyone knows technology always goes down in value.

For what it is worth, I was sitting in the main terminal at SEA last Friday afternoon 7/14 waiting for a flight home when a man approached two people sitting next to me and commented on how the man was using a Treo and the lady was using a "competitive" product. He identified himself as working for Palm and pulled out a device that appeared to be slightly smaller than a Treo 650/700 and did not have a antenna. The rest of the device appeared to be similar to curent Treo (keyboard, screen, etc). After they're chat I motioned him over to me explaining that I had been using Palm products for a long time (Palm V, Treo 300/600/650). He again produced the device to me for about 15 seconds and explained that it was a working prototype that may be released as early as December. He gave me a business card and said he and his team would welcome suggestions. The device did not look like the picture shown. Thanks, MG

In the background I see "mobile" could it be from T-Mobile, who has not carried a Treo since the 600? Are Cingular and T-Mobile the only carriers not to have a Treo with wm5?

Hi All - If this new Treo is WiFi enabled does that mean I will finally get the drivers to enable the Palm Wifi card in my current Treo 650 ?

Palm OS on the euro treo please!
My 650 now has a hole in the screen, & I don't know how much longer it'll last - I'd be loathe to switch to WM5 & making useless all my apps, but it looks like palm are leaving us with little choice! :(

I'd hold out if I knew an upgrade of the OS were on the horizon (haven't heard many rumors that way in a while), but this's what, 4 new models meant to be coming out soon, all on WM5? Bah.

I, for one, will never buy any product with the unholy nightmare known as Windows Mobile on it. Did anyone from Palm read the reviews, most notably the New York Times who said something to the effect of "why would a company marry flawless hardware to slow, unintuitive, and wretched software", and I concur. Long live the Palm OS!
