200,000 members and counting!

Scarcely a year ago, we were celebrating mytreo.net’s first birthday and reaching forty thousand members. Mytreo.net is now two years-old, and today the community reached two hundred thousand members. How’s that for a second birthday present!

More and more people from all over the world are purchasing Treo smartphones and flocking to mytreo.net, the best source for anything and everything Treo-related. Many come looking for information, downloads and accessories, then stay to share their own perspectives and ideas. Thanks to the contributions of so many people far too numerous to cite here individually, mytreo.net has become an incredible place.

With a quarter of a million messages in the forum on more than thirty thousand topics, and an ever growing interactive FAQ section (“Knowledge Base”), members provide tremendously valuable content to one another. Forum topics range from basic Treo use to advanced Windows and Linux issues, choosing a data plan, what’s hot at the movies, to “yo momma” jokes and favorite recipes. The community is inclusive, with members ranging from novices to techno-geeks, logging in from Detroit to Bali. Whatever your interest or question, you can find a straight answer and fresh perspective here.

As the community blossomed, traffic at times overwhelmed the server, leading the administration to make two major upgrades to both hardware and software. The site now runs on a machine so substantial that it has been dubbed the “beast” by staff. We believe the hardware configuration can accommodate several multiples of today’s load without any increased latency.

The volunteer team of staff writers and moderators work around the clock to provide fresh site content and keep the forum friendly and organized. As we begin including Windows Mobile applications in the Download Section, our download staff is working dilligently to ensure applications are available for all Treo devices. Input from the membership has been invaluable in this process. New front page writers have been added to review new Treo models and software specific to them.

Want to change something about an application? Notice a bug, have an idea for a new feature, or want an entirely new Treo application written? Mytreo.net hosts the most active forums for the best selling Treo software developers. You can find PocketCraft, Geakware, GoTreo Software, J.F. Morreeuw, Hobbyist Software, Marc Blank, RNS:: RaNoSoftware, ShSh Software, Toysoft Development, Velocityware and ZZTechs here, to name a few. It has never been easier to collaborate with developers on their applications! Very best selling products are actively beta tested on mytreo.net, such as Warden Security, VolumeCare (downloaded 60,000 times!), CallFilter, Butler, Lightwav, ZLauncher, TAKEphONE and Chatter, among many others.

Although the headline of this article is about membership size, the number is not what’s meaningful. It is the contributions of everyone–the membership, developers and staff–that make mytreo.net what it is today. You make this place work. You make this place fantastic.

Thanks to everyone for making this effort fun for all of us. Here’s to many more years of getting to know one another better!
