or Following the November leak by Palm's largest shareholder that four new Treo models were planned for this calendar year, and following Palm's recent conference call in which management effectively confirmed the leak, rumors about upcoming Treo models have been rampant on the internet.
We know that one of the four new models has arrived in the form of the Windows Mobile Treo 700w. The model was controversial because it represented a break for Palm away from using the Palm Os operating system developed by PalmSource, Palm's sister company. We also know that two of the remaining three models are code named "Hollywood" and "Lowrider."
Many expect a Palm OS Treo 700p to be released soon. Such a model might rival the Windows Mobile Treo 700w, with a 1 megapixel camera, equally fast processor and 64 MBs of RAM. One of the other models is expected to be low-priced and designed for the mass market.
The rollout dates for future Treo smartphones remain secret. This year at CES, the largest consumer electronics show in the world, scuttlebut at the Palm display booth suggested that the remaining three models would be out in the second half of the year. Forum reports have since suggested a release date for a Treo 700p model as early as late May.
Today on Treonauts, images surfaced that are said to be of Lowrider, a new low-priced Treo. Hoax photoshop images sometimes appear online that are intended to fool webmasters and readers. In this case, the images do not contain the ordinary markings of an upcoming Treo smartphone. Pre-release units usually have serial numbers etched on the faceplate and sometimes carrier logos on the front. Also, we believe there are phtoshop markings on these images, particularly around the missing antennas. That said, certainly the pictures are food for thought.

So, the new Treo will be SPRAY-PAINTED, eh? OK...
dutchtrumpet says:
This was posted at treocentral.com and is a complete FAKE. That is a treo 650 with the antenna cut off, the hole fille and the body painted. No need for photoshop when you hoax the old-fashioned way.

this is a worthless article
Jdennington says:
This looks more like a custom painted 600/650 rather than a complete new model. The idea of a Treo without an external aerial makes sense when you consider the competition, and I would expect that new models will eventually go this way. I will put this one down to a hoax with a poor paint job
c6c says:
Even I could do a better fake than that one. :-p
John says:
Is it just me or does this look like a custom shell slapped onto a standard 650? The button configuration doesn't look anything like the rest of what the Treo's are moving towards and the quality of the casing doesn't look to be up to Palm's standards. Does anyone else see that?
Take a look at the custom cell phone covers at someplace like http://www.cellphoneshop.net/faceplate.html for examples of these cheap faceplates.
am i that stupid!? says:
oh here we go. are you guys that naive and stupid? this isn't the new lowrider! look at the ridiculously poor paint job on this thing! come on! get a life guys!
Phillip says:
Hi...this pic is a fake. The poster of this pic on treocentral first posted pics with a non-painted battery cover. The next day he posted it with the cover painted to match. This is not photoshopped...it is painted with the antenna removed. This treo is a hoax.
kabukiassassin says:
Ummm, no. That's a painted 650 with the antenna removed. Jeez guys, come on...
RobBiros says:
