* Announcing CallFilter 1.3 - The Best Treo 650 Call Filter & Ringtone Software Ever! *

mytreo.net is delighted to announce the much anticipated release of CallFilter 1.3, now supported on both Treo 600 and Treo 650 smartphones. The administration of this site believes it’s one of the best software products ever developed for any smartphone. Free trials are available exclusively from mytreo.net. (Scroll to the bottom of this page to read about new features.)

TAKE CONTROL OF WHO CAN REACH YOU AND WHEN

Robert Johnson of Velocityware Inc. (VWare), the mytreo.net Star Developer, is the God Father of call filtering and ringtone management software. Two years ago, he pioneered CallFilter 1.0, the first call filtering application ever written. CallFilter 1.0 did one thing and did it well. It automatically screened unwanted callers to voicemail, such as catagories of contacts, individual contacts or blocked caller-IDs.

For the first time Treo owners could avoid personal calls during work hours and work calls during relaxing time. Telemarketers were forced to leave messages. It was like installing an administrative assistant directly in the device! Treo owners were able to take control of their phones, and decide for themeselves who could reach them and when.

Naturally, the online Treo community received the program very well. People discussed it continuously in discussion forums and downloaded it massive numbers of times. One thread exceeded 30,000 views in only three months! Several websites including mytreo.net endorsed the software. CallFilter was a success, and Robert released a bug-fix version 1.1 to an adoring fan base.

ENHANCED RINGTONE & PICTURE ID CAPABILITIES

Competitors later crept into the market and stimulated a feature race that led to substantial improvements in CallFilter. To stay ahead, Robert added ringtone management capabilities, making it possible for Treo users to assign MP3, Ogg, Wav and Midi ringtones to callers and catagories of callers. He added photo-IDs for catagories of contacts, and made it possible for Treo 600 owners to have an unlimited number of photo-IDs, a feature later incorporated into the operating system of the Treo 650. (He also built in the ability to stop Space bar and other keys from accidentally answering your phone.)

The frantic competition-fueled development lasted for a few months before Robert brought it to an end. Tired of the race and wanting his application to dominate the marketplace, he did something unusual. He went underground, disappearing from discussion forums altogether to develop perhaps the best update of all time. He worked for five months offline with a group known as the “elite beta team,” chosen for their skilled feedback and discretion. The result was CallFilter 1.2.

CALLFILTER 1.2 OFFERED A LAUNDRY LIST OF NEW FEATURES

Integration with profile programs, including Profiles (Simple Profile Manager), Profeo Lite, and Profiler. Users could associate ringtone and call filtering rules with profiles, and then switch between profiles to change sets of rules. For example, users could have one set of rules associated with “Office,” and another set of rules associated with “Out with Friends.” Then the CallFilter user could switch between the profiles with the press of a button. With this approach, a user could be sure never to suffer the humiliation of having a meeting interrupted by his Snoop Doggy Dog ringtone, and would never accidentally accept a call from a client while in a bar or other inappropriate environment. Users could create profiles for all kinds of settings, such as Home, Office, Opera, Dinner, Vacation, Car, Church, School, Meeting and Dinner Time.

Call Completion Preferences. Users could optionally cause a Call Completion Screen to appear at the end of every call. That way users could take notes about the call that would later appear in the “notes” field of a contact or in a new entry in your memo pad. The Call Completion Screen also provided a way to quickly schedule meetings and follow-up calls.

Call Completion Logs. CallFilter allowed users to keep two types of phone call logs, one the usual way in the phone application and another one for each contact in the Palm address book stored in the note field. As a result, users could view phone call history by person rather than by time, simply by looking at a person’s contact entry in the address book.

Call Announcing. CallFilter had the ability to speak the number of a person calling. (Other programs claimed to have this feature and didn’t. They required you to make your own recordings and then install them to be used in conjunction with the program. In this case, the speaking abilty was coded into the application!)

SMS Rules. The program was capable of SMS blocking, SMS deleting and SMS ring tones. Users could prevent SMS popup (a feature later incorporated into the Treo 650 operating system), and start applications - such as security programs - upon receipt of user defined SMS coded messages.

Call Forwarding Rules. CallFilter was capable of forwarding phone calls according to user defined rules.

Nickname ID. Users could optionally cause nicknames instead of full names to appear for incoming callers, in case Treo owners wanted the name of callers to be hidden from others in the room.

Incoming Call Reminders. This feature made it possible to put reminders in the notes field of contacts, and have those reminders present themselves upon incoming calls. For example, if a user wanted to remind his kids to do their chores, he could list their chores in their contact notes field and then see the field instead of picture caller ID when they called next.

Coverup Sounds. Treo owners could cause MP3, Ogg, Wav and Midi sounds to play during phone calls. By installing pre-recorded sounds, one could have CallFilter cause the sounds to play during incoming phone calls to give the impression to the caller that the recipient of the call was somewhere that he was not. For example, a user could make it sound like he was in a helicopter, on a bus, in a restaurant, and many other places. Coverup sounds could be assigned to individual contacts or categories of contacts.

Countless Other Innovations. Robert also threw in a number of other smaller features, such as a patch to make certain JABRA Bluetooth headsets work with the Treo.

With incredible core call filtering functionality and a laundry list of other features, CallFilter 1.2 became one of the most popular products available for the Treo 600. mytreo.net, PalmGear and Handango all had the application listed among their best sellers and “must haves.” Unfortunately for CallFilter 1.2 fans, it only worked on the Treo 600. When the Treo 650 was born, the new memory and operating system architecture were so different that the application required a massive overhaul.

ANNOUNCING CALLFILTER 1.3 - WITH AWESOME NEW FEATURES

We are pleased to bring you a fully functional version of this program for the Treo 600 and Treo 650. All of the features now work with every firmware release and on every carrier’s version of the device, including Treo smartphones branded by Cingular, Verizon, Sprint and T-Mobile.

Of course, no CallFilter release would be complete without new features as well. CallFilter 1.3 offers the following new capabilities:

Location Lookup.Ever receive a call from an unknown number that is not in your contact lists and wonder who the caller is and where he is calling from? Well, now there is a new Ring Screen called “Location Lookup.” You can now create a rule such as: If [Not in Contacts], Ring as Normal with Ring Screen-Location Lookup. So if you get a call from a number not in your contacts database, CallFilter will display a screen that will tell you the closest major City or metropolitan area from which the call is originating.

VelocityPlayer. If you have a Treo 650, you don’t need Pocket Tunes in order to use mp3 and wav ringtones. There is now a player built into CallFilter called “VelocityPlayer.” (VelocityPlayer only works on the Treo 650.)

Password Protection. There is now a password screen to keep people from looking at your rules! You can configure the settings in “Access Control Preferences.” There is also an option to display a FAKE CallFilter screen if someone enters an invalid passcode. That way, if someone is being nosey and messing around with your Treo, or bugs you to show them CallFilter, you can just enter an invalid code, and show them a fake CallFilter screen with no rules defined.

Outgoing Call Filtering. Now you can block outgoing calls as well as incoming ones. This is a great way to prevent others from placing international calls on your device. You can even perform advanced filtering, such as only allow outgoing calls to people in your contact database, or in a particular category!

Change the Color of the LED Based On Who Is Calling. Also a CallFilter first…Now CallFilter rules can change the color of your Treo’s LED based on who is calling and your established rules.

New File Browser for Selecting MP3 and WAVs. It’s now much easier to navigate to your favorite ringtones when within a rule.

CallFilter 1.3 is a free upgrade for existing users. Licenses are available to new users for $29.95. Click here to download and here to purchase now!
