MTDN Star Developer Hobbyist Software announces today that the much raved-about designed-for-Treo launcher Initiate is now at version 1.5.

“Initiate is the only launcher designed for your Smartphone:

• Find exactly what you want fast – whether it is a contact, a bookmark, an MP3 or an application. Your entire device is instantly available.
• Intuitive and easy to use, you simply enter a few letters of what you are looking for and Initiate will do the rest.
• Use Initiate to dial a contact, send an sms, play an MP3, launch an application load a bookmark or manage your files.
• Initiate is fully customisable -both in functionality and look. You can choose the applications that Initiate uses for Email, mp3s, etc. You can choose skins and backgrounds, You can choose from the many ways of navigating and acting.

Changes and enhancements in this version include:

• Background format stored:
  • backgrounds are smaller and can be in high res and more colour depth
  • backgrounds are much easier to make
  • to prove that, I’ve put up 14 new backgrounds at

  This does break compatibility with earlier background files - so you will have to delete those and download new backgrounds.

• Various display optimisations - including web addresses appearing with … in middle of text when too long for the list.
• Bugfix for issue where all databases were being copied from SD card on launch.”
