BodyGuardz for the Treo Pro Review
It is a well-known fact that glossy black devices are very difficult to maintain! I have never found the need for extra protection for my devices up until the Treo Pro. Not only is it a fingerprint magnet, it is also very easy to scratch. I managed to scratch the screen with my fingernails, and the battery cover had picked up so many tiny scratches that I shuddered at the thought of placing my Treo Pro on rough surfaces. That’s when I decided to give BodyGuardz a shot.
Pricing & Ordering
BodyGuardz.com sells the protector set for $24.95 with free shipping or you can purchase from WirelessAccessories.com or an authorized reseller for $19.95.
In The Box
Included in the box are two sets of BodyGuardz, a bottle of application fluid, and a squeegee.
Installation
The inside cover of the box contains the directions for application so there is no need to go into too much detail, but here are a couple of tips that might be found useful:
- Be prepared to set aside some time for application because you might find it challenging to complete the process in one sitting.
- Before you begin, make sure the device is as close to spotless as possible to insure that no dust fibers remain. Remove the battery and then wipe the device thoroughly with a soft clothe. A can of compressed air would come in handy if one is available to you.
- The bottle of application solution may not be enough for multiple installation attempts. Since the solution is mostly water the following directions may be found useful. First, fill up the bottle with plain water (preferably filtered or distilled), and when it is about half empty top it off with solution.
In all honesty, I had a feeling the side pieces would not work well due to the design of the device and purchased the BodyGuardz mainly for the screen and battery cover.
Once I attempted application of the side pieces, I found that my suspicions were correct. The side pieces bend over the curve and cover the front edges of the device, including the area around the green and red buttons. The pieces did not fit exactly as promised and the corners would not stick. Had the side pieces only covered the sides, the product would have been better.
Fitment
The BodyGuardz fit the Treo Pro well. However, I would like to point out that the screen piece is about 1mm off on each side. This leaves a gap for dust to collect. This makes application very troublesome around the 5-way navigator area because it is difficult to clean.
Film Texture
I enjoyed the rubberized feeling of the Treo 755p, and having BodyGuardz brought a similar advantage to the Treo Pro. After application I found that the device was much less of a fingerprint magnet and was easier to grip. In fact, the device is now rather sticky!
Conclusion
Overall, I am happy with the BodyGuardz for the Treo Pro. BodyGuardz protects and improves the feel of the device without increasing bulk or hindering functionality.
