According to The Register, demand for PDAs is dropping while consumers’ appetite for smart phones - such as the Treo 650 and Treo 700w - is rising. Worldwide shipments of PDAs dropped 22% year-over-year in the first quarter, while shipments of smart phones rose 55%. The article explains:
